I can quit anytime I want...

Post by Mike McCreery »

BUT I DONT WANNA!!!

I surrendered a game that was not moving fast back in February 2026. At the time I had already picked up one other game.

That game has been going on consistently from the time I started at about 1 turn per day which is great. The game started in July of 2025. In game we are now in March of 1943. I have had some setbacks with damaged carriers and my opponent is very skillful so I have yet to take back New Caledonia or Northern Australia. We both have our major carrier fleets intact.

Because I am addicted to turns I decided to start an additional game to keep me busy. I started game 2 after the original game was ended in Februay 2026. This game has gone much faster than game one with multiple turns being played, particularly on Sunday's when we both have the day off. It has slowed down a bit lately. In December of 1942 we had a midway battle resulting in the loss of several of his carriers and another battle in January resulting in more carriers sunk. I have managed to keep my carriers mostly intact but one is currently heading for a port to repair damage from a sub attack. We are in May of 1943 and I have just taken Makassar.

In addition, the original game that I ended in February was taken up by another player. Eventually that game ended due to lack of turns being sent back and forth and he asked me if I had time to play a game. So.... Game 3 started in May of 2026. This player has a lot of time on his hands and multiple turns are being sent back and forth daily. So we are already in March of 1943 with me taking Milney Bay last turn. Both carrier fleets are intact and the action is fast and furious right now.

Playing 3-10 turns per day depending on whether I am working or not. I would tell you that I am not addicted to this game but would you believe me??

I marvel at your ability to crank out turns so fast!

I hope you can also fit in occasional updates, including the combat reports from big naval battles.

I don't know how you keep the games separate. I couldn't do it.

I posted yesterday in the war room. Basically train units for their next destination to keep those groups organized, set up CS convoys to minimize fuel/supply convoys, bulk train airgroups to keep pools full of experienced pilots and have the game keep moving at least 1 turn per day to keep it all in my flash memory.

3 games, I'd forget everything I was doing or planning or anything else and make lots of dumb moves. I couldn't do it. Kudos to you if you can!

This I understand, and it is why I end up re-starting so many of my games ... life intervenes, I can't run a turn for a month or more, and then I open up the game and can't remember enough of where I was ... :o

Well, I did not plan on it being 3 but I also did not plan on having 4 cats either so....

I understand completely. We had 4 cats for years. When we retired, we decided to not get "replacements" when they passed away. Our last cat died 16 months ago. It was weird for a long time but we knew it was then right decision. Then, a couple of weeks ago, a little stray started hanging out around our house. Of course my wife started feeding him. And now, we have little Benny as a new addition. Rotten cat. I swear, we have a vacancy sign on our house.

Sorry for the highjack. Back to your war...

We lost ours, oh it's been 5 years? now ... same as you decided not to replace. Been lucky so far. My secret: keep the wife working like $%^@ so that she is too busy to notice any strays!

I have had a number of cats along the way and sometimes multiples and I had 2 cats with one being ancient and the other maybe 5 or 6 years old. I decided to get a kitten to soften the eventual passing of the oldest cat and went to the shelter where I discovered a pair of black kittens so suddenly I had 4.

Then my neighbor died and I had offered to take her cat if anything was to happen to her so I was up to 5 cats.

Eventually my oldest passed away and I am back to 4 when I was only planning on 2.

Life happens right?
