[1900.20] Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Again.
Well it's back. I was playing CMO earlier today just fine and now anytime I try and load (or edit) a scenario I get "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
- Running in Administrator Mode
- Did a verify integrity of game files in Steam
- Rebooted PC
Attached is the ExceptionLog

Look for software that may interfere with CMO.

Re: [1900.20] Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Again.
So got this error trying to load a scenario about 20 times in a row then thought I'd try something different and do a "Create New Scenario" then immediately did a File | Start Menu | Start New Game and I was able to load a Scenario just fine. So I have no idea now what's going on, but it seems o be working again (for now?)
Re: [1900.20] Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Again.
Hmm I also have Razer Synapse and it has a process listener to switch profiles if command.exe is running. Might be on to something here, will do further testing.Nikel wrote: Wed Oct 14, 2026 7:14 pm Look for software that may interfere with CMO.

Re: [1900.20] Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Again.
Nah, nothing works consistently. I've tried disabling software, verifying game files, rebooting at least 30 times and maybe once i was able to load a scenario over the last 2 days.
Here's my ExceptionLogs over the last 2 days.

Re: [1900.20] Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Again.
If it can be posted, in the task manager what is the list of software that start up with windows?
Have you disabled what is not essential, restarted the PC, and still happens?

Re: [1900.20] Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Again.
Tried any and all suggestions (from other posts on this topic) to no effect. (Even renaming CMORTMP.dll)
I've spent 2 hours every day since 1900.20 came out, trying to get this running. I think I'm done.

Did you test B1892?
Do you have the Command.exe of this build?

Re: [1900.20] Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Again.
I used to keep all the version downloads, but about 2 months ago i deleted them all thinking i don't really need them. I looked on the forums but i don't see any of the old builds.
Re: [1900.20] Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Again.
MauriceB,
I found it on a post by Dimitris on June 26,2026. Main part of CMO forum.

Re: [1900.20] Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Again.
Yes, this is the thread with links by Dimitris.
However it is a huge download just for the exe.
I do not know whether it can be posted a link only with Command.exe

Re: [1900.20] Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Again.
Nikel,
It took me about 15 min. to download. I was thinking of just trying to extract the.exe file, backing up the current .exe file and running CMO directly with the 1892 .exe with admin rights. Hope this works for MauriceB.

Re: [1900.20] Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Again.
Yes, that is what I would do.
Just renaming the last build to Command 1920.23.exe
And pasting the old Command.exe of B1892 in the game folder.
You can have several builds in the same folder if you rename the exes.
Only Command.exe will run. If you want to retest the new build you will have ro rename them again. Command.exe to Command 1892.exe and Command 1920.23.exe to Command.exe
This works in the standalone version, Cannot comment on the Steam one.

Re: [1900.20] Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Again.
Nikel,
I switched the .exe to the 1892 .exe and the game has loaded a cpl of times with no problem. The problem would seem to lie within B1900.23.
Thx

Re: [1900.20] Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Again.
Good experiment
There were several builds available on steam before that.
In the case of MauriceB, the problem started with 1900.20
The experiment could continue if the devs send you 1900.x builds to test.

Re: [1900.20] Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Again.
Nikel,
I was thinking along the lines of my problem loading the game, not strictly MauriceB's issue. Sorry about the possible confusion. I will go back to the thread I started to avoid any confusion. It would be nice if the devs assisted with additional builds for me to try. Just to make it clear, the game is not installed on Steam.
Thx

Re: [1900.20] Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Again.
NAVMAN, I believe it's all the same root issue. I sometimes lockup on load screen, sometimes get past that and then get null references when i try to load any scenario/save file.
The B1892 could be very problematic to try and install now. When it was released that update could make assumptions about the installed files, now if i copy it over 1900.23 those assumptions are not valid and who knows what state we'll be in.

Re: [1900.20] Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Again.
Not so problematic, no need to install anything.
Just back up one exe, put the other in the game folder and run.
If does not work it is easy to revert the situation.
What I do not know is whether steam will revert the situation automatically, but I think you can play offline or disable updates.

Re: [1900.20] Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Again.
So this is an experimental build (B1900.23a), with a tiny change that may help solve the "null-reference exception on PooledList operations" problem: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-Uuhbu ... sp=sharing
MauriceB < Can you please give this a try and see if it helps in your case. Thanks.
