Campaign Series: Vietnam v2.20.00 Public Beta Now Available

Post by MaximKI »

Hello everyone,

Please try this new beta and let us know if it helps your game. To install this update you can download from this link HERE or by going to your Campaign Series Vietnam File Downloads in the Matrix My Page section of the website or from the game's store page.

Changes in 2.20.00 (October 29th, 2026)

Enhancements
• Added the completely revised UK order of battle to CS Vietnam as a new nation.
• Scenario Information dialog is now non-modal and can remain open while playing the game.
• Updated the Arrived, Scheduled, and Release dialogs to use the two-tone gridview. Added
organizational information to the display. Release turn numbers triggered by the event engine are
now clearly marked as "CSEE". All three dialogs are sortable by column title.
• Updated the Target dialog to use the two-tone gridview. It is also sortable by column title.
• Added sortable columns to the Location and Objective dialogs as well as for the Forces and
Strength tabs of the SITREP dialog.
• Updated the Artillery and Air Support dialogs to use the new two-tone gridviews. These are now
sortable by column title.
• Improved Edorg read functionality to support complex comment structures in data files, with
enhanced error reporting for greater clarity.
• Added three selectable screen‑edge scroll zones — Narrow, Medium, and Wide — allowing
players to choose how large the edge “scroll box” is before mouse‑driven map scrolling activates.
• Added details to on‑map tooltips so that when a carrying unit is highlighted, the organization
details of the carried unit are also displayed.
• Enlarged the Jump Map dialog by 50% and adjusted the elevation‑contour algorithm to better
match the actual map colors.
• Upgraded the Jump Map dialog to use the latest game-specific color schemes.
• Reintroduced the white vertical marker in Hex Info Unit Action Thermobars to indicate the
minimum amount of action points required to perform a fire mission.

Fixes
• Fixed Air and Artillery Support Dialog selection events where, under certain circumstances,
Toolbar and cursor icon did not reflect a correct Fire/Move state.
• Added safeguards to on-map tooltips to prevent them from displaying under AI control causing
for instance replay to stop.
• Fixed the image resize issue with Bulletin, Message, Note, and Remark Dialogs where dialog sizes
now dynamically match that of the loaded image.
• Fixed a bug where, under certain conditions, it was possible to enter a water hex if an enemy boat
was present.

Hi Guys
Very impressive. Pity about not getting the Blackburn Buccaneer strike aircraft but there is always next time. One thing I did notice for the Commonwealth Division in Korea (which I guess will be the same for both games. The 29th Infantry Brigade is at its top level incorrectly labelled the 29th Gurkha Infantry, see screenshot below.

Hi Jason
Just checked the South African OOB for Middle East and I see that one is already there. In terms of paint scheme I suggest that you go for something like the below. Note the particular way that the Blanford Press did their aircraft profiles in veridical mode with the top half of the image showing the view from below and the bottom half the view from above. For later periods you might want to go for the simplified rondel cutting out the white ring.

It's not pretty, but almost there.

I can always update it later.

PS
Good to get the old girl into the mix and take her rightful place as the RAF's heavy & long range strike aircraft after the Canberra and before the Tornado. A couple of weeks ago I went to the Yorkshire aviation museum and sore some of them (they and 4 I think) up close and personal. Both in Fleet Air Arm and RAF paint schemes. Interestingly they also had the French Mirage IV that was around at the same time was sort of a French version of the B58 Hustler concept although minus the range to get back home after dropping its atomic weapons.

Thanks again

Ian

Also I see you have the British Army using the 84mm Carl Gustav from the time of the Korean War although I don't think they got it unti the early 1960's and were using the US M20 before that.

Hmm, no, they shouldn't be.

Even in the data the Carl Gustav doesn't show up until 1962 in the rifle platoons?

Ah, I see, it is just listed in the platoon file, but not actually used in the official organizations.

It is included for Cold War hypotheticals.
