Shadow rising feedback

Post by Es78 »

Hi

Came back after a years break to this wonderfull game. And nice to see the pirate expansion have landed. Was so much fun back in DW1.

I really like it but a few things that i could see improvements on.
Before i start yes i have played this game way to mcuh and find it quite easy even on extreme. A bit of a min/max player.
But the pirate faction is to easy to win. I played a few year on a test game to get the feel of it. Second game i went all in and won the game in year 2780 only after 26 year standard settings but on extreme.
You basicly just build some freighter, to boost the economy.
Then manuel control your station stock of construction resources or you will quikly run out and redesign your station to max out storage module (Yes no weapons you need huge stockpiles)
After that you just spam a mix of more freighters, construction ships and fleets around the size of your starting fleet and park them around independt planets on guard mode. A few planets with rapid pop growth gets bigger fleets.
You will quikly get to 10 planets this way, a huge cash profit and only limited but the poor constriction resource flow. But you win the game.

Suggestions for improvements
- Fix the space station to get more construction materials based on whats needed and prioritice refilling the station of construction resources. Steel, polymer, Aculon is easly neded 20x as much as Tydderios, Krypton and Argon. (Depends on design but it´s in that ball park)
The above issue is proberly why it´s to easy, as this is a maoyor handicap for the pirate AI, as they are in a stallmate due to resource shortage. Sadly i can´t change my view to a pirate faction through the game editor so can´t check this.
But found a single piratestation where i can see it´s stock, see attached screenshot of a AI piratebase that is literly doomed. It´s maxed out at 100 Cuprica and 19803 Hexodorium. And yearh it have 598 cuprica reserved for other empires. Thats way of and really bad for the AI.

- Enemy pirate factions, tend to keep for them self and occasionaly raid a planet here and there. Did´t see a single independt pirate faction expand there control beoynd there starting independent planet. Also there starting planets just stayed at 50% control and no upgrade to there Hidden Pirate Base.

- As above i could keep my planets literly for my self, i am playing on extreme and literaly expected the AI pirates to attack me. But nothing. My best guess is they can´t manage there construction resources as mentioned above and therefore do not expand.
