I did a Google search on the weather in Russia in October 1941 and historically there was the Autumn Rains & Mud (Rasputitsa) with some snow starting as early as the 7th Oct then falling back to Rasputitsa, if your getting snow now that is a hell of lot better than the mud season for troops and armour to move and fight.

I would be still fighting myself but its your game and your choice.
