Normandy to the Rhine

Post by Monash »

A new PBEM Scenario, Normandy to the Rhine is a what-if covering the North-West Europe campaign of 1944-45. It pits a historically accurate SHAEF against a hypothetical OB-West force.

START DATE: July 10th, 1944
MAP SCALE: 5-km
TIME UNIT: Half-Week
UNIT SCALE: Regiment/Brigade/Battalion
LENGTH: 75 Turns
TOAW-IV - V 4.1.0.40 – PBEM

Opponents are invited to explore hypothetical approaches to the classic breakout-and-pursuit evolution of the historic campaign.

As the SHAEF commander, the Allied player confronts a more challenging opponent than General Eisenhower faced. OB-West has been allowed to withdraw from its exposed positions in Normandy and is freed from Hitler’s incessant operational-level meddling.

For the OB-West commander, units of the Heer and Waffen-SS reorganize in a manner consistent with early-war Ersatzheer doctrine. The resulting hypothetical force is no larger than the one the Germans actually deployed, but is modified in composition and reinforcement schedule. As a result, it maintains potentially greater cohesion.
