Hassle Free install - but have no idea what I'm doing!

Post by Adam Parker »

Thought I'd post a hassle free install of the game for future buyers. Looks very interesting and appreciate the printed rulebook and tut.

I fired up Joe's Bridge last night without reading a word of the rules to test the intuitiveness of the interface and of course had units moving everywhere and arty blasting away but had no idea why [:D]

Three very quick observations:

a) The patch at 48 megs would have had me on the floor were it not for a ADSL internet now. True Update worked without a hitch.

b) I'd recommend increasing the gutters in the rulebook as I fear I'll be pulling the rulebook apart soon as I try to read the inner pages.

c) Well done for getting the game on the retail shelves of one of Australia's best known chain stores - Harvey Norman. I happened to be visiting the store for something totally different, checked the game shelves out whilst I was there and luckily (to my full surprise too) spotted the box cover having no expectation that it was there. I really hope to see Matrix take full advantage of this distribution channel now and look forward to seeing Decisive Battles there too. To those in Melbourne there's 1 more HTTR box waiting for you at HN Southland!

Adam,

glad to hear you're enjoying the game!

You'll find that the patch includes pdf versions of all documentation associated with the game, which gives you a few options other than pulling apart the printed manual if you want [:)]

Cool 33 and btw you realize that when I said "pull the book apart", I didn't mean intentionally either! I'm peering into the writing right in the fold of the pages and beginning to see glue [:D]

I do love a printed manual though.

Ditto the printed manual. My wife thinks I'm on the computer too much as it is, if I try to bring the laptop to bed at night to read a pdf manual...........................[&o] she who must be obeyed would point to the door and say close it behind you!
