PATCH TOO BIG

Post by newbie »

HI ALL! I brought a copy of korsun pocket through mail order the other day and need to patch it to 1.10 first, but at 79 megs it's just too big to download on my slow connection. I was wondering if the patch will be available on cd sometime, perhaps with BIN when it is released. has it been made available through any game magazine cd's. would it be possible to have it emailed to me by someone if it is allowed? any help would be much appreciated[:)]

Hey newbie,

Welcome aboard!

I'm pretty sure that no one will have the upload allowance for 79 megs through their ISP!

Send me an email with your address and I'll burn you a CD with the patches, ( yep, there is another, smaller one[;)]),V 1.11.

There is also some great scenarios and info from a site that you should bookmark and visit often:

http://www.wargamer.com/wachtamrhein/

As those scenario files are also quite big, I will add those scenarios to the CD.

You might also consider getting a file download manager software. These can continue interrupted downloads if the server providing the download allows for this feature. I had to get one for that patch even though I have DSL. There is a good free one at www.getright.com. I am not sure how it works with dialup, but you might give it a try, maybe let your PC run overnight.

I'm also stymied by the size of the patch for version 1.10. I've owned Korsun Pocket since last year but have not played much recently because of real-world distractions and the practical impossibility of downloading a file measuring 83 MB. Thanks to the good folks at SBC, the local phone network here in my corner of the sunny Southwest is too noise-ridden to connect to my ISP at more than 28.8 kps!

I recall vaguely that, much earlier this year, there was a post on one of the KP forums to the effect that the patches might be made available to game owners on a CD, for order from Matrix, possibly during the month of Jan. or Feb. Has anything come of this? I am greatly interested in bringing my copy of the game fully up to speed and also in ordering the add-on
"Across the Dnepr", for which I understand I have to have the v. 1.10 patch installed.

Any response would be greatly appreciated.

Ditto for me in response to gagowen...

I'll have to wait until a patch becomes available on disk.

Go to the E-Shop. At the "Title Search" box click "Matrix Patch March 2004". That´s a CD containing all patches for al our products up to March 2004.

Also for bigger downloads we recommend using a download client like for example Getright ( www.getright.com ) . These clients let you break and resume a download at any time. You can also resume a download if the connection get´s disrupted suddenly.

I have been getting some more requests for the CD that I sent to newbie.

I must say that I am busy with other commitments right now, so I no longer have the time to do this.

With the availability of the patch on CD from Matrix, folks without a Broadband connection can now get the patches they need from the above link mentioned by David Heath.
