EB cancelled my preorder

Post by von Curow »

Sigh... got this message from EB Games today:
Dear EBgames.com Customer,

EBgames.com strives to fill all of the orders that we receive but once in a while a product that is listed as coming soon does not make it onto the shelves. This has happened with an item that you have on order. We will not be receiving any copies of EMPIRE IN ARMS:NEPLNC WARS PC, and therefore will be unable to fill your order. We have cancelled your order for this item and your credit card will not be charged. If you have other items on your order, those will remain on the order and shipped as soon as possible.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to either reply to this e-mail or give us a call at 877-432-9675.

We apologize for the inconvenience,
EBgames.com Customer Service

How many times do you have to read the wise counsel from people on these forums (including Matrix staff) that you've got to stop relying on sources like EB for release dates, availability, and other information?

[:-] Don't be snotty.

Although I erred in not making myself clear, my concern is not with Matrix or its business practices, rather I intended to heap scorn upon EB for their silliness. We're going to carry it. We're not going to carry it. Okay, we changed our mind and are going to carry it. Okay, maybe not... etc.

Of course, I forgive you, since there are many doomsayers on this forum and you undoubtedly mistook me for one.

EB and other retailers book their release schedules on information from the game company. It is not the failure of EB, it is the failure of Matrix. They have committed a date too retail and missed.

This is nonsense. EB and other Web retailers are notorious for conjuring up release dates that have nothing to do with reality.

Matrix has nothing to gain from destroying their credibility by lying about production schedules. I insist that you either retract your slander on their good name or provide specific information supporting your position.

In this case you have no idea what you are talking about. EB was so off the mark once they post a store date for a game that was a free download by us. We NEVER give release dates and these guys go and just make them up.

EIA PC will only be sold direct and will not be available in any retail chains.
