2500 points, My Russkies vs Minefields Germans... hills dominate the centre, there's also a swamp in the centre south and a lake in central north... plenty of trees... forces have just sighted each other, lots of German snipers around... Glory to the people of the revolution! Da

Germans have blundered their first firefights. Some of the lightning attack pieces, namely the Sdk 255's (I think that's right-- turretless low armored ATG recon) miscalculated their movement ability. Apparently it takes a lot more movement for them to fire than say a StuG.
Anyway, our units retaliated for strikes against our snipers. Several bikers were dis-biked in the south and in the middle. Plenty of heavy hitters are seen rolling through the forests towards us. Most of the Ruskie tanks have those 85mm guns [X(]. The germans are actually outgunned in this scenario. That'll teach you not to make a map and choose your forces late at night.
Good news: a couple of StuG's and one of those Recon ATG were able to send some bikers running. A couple of other recon ATG's take some shots at some armor up north.
Bad News: One armored ATG floods out before even getting there. One StuG moves one space in hopes of getting a shot off at the turretless Soviet tank but is spotted and is blown to pieces before it can even get a shot off

It seems I have forgotten some important lessons, including keeping your units hidden and suppressing the enemy before moving in to kill.
Big losses in this point sensitive game.

if only my tanks would shoot as straight in my own turn [:(] a few choice recon targets sitting on the hills are still there unfortunately...
on my side of the lake in the northern hills our recon discovers some nesting kubelwagens... rare for this time of the year... we blast em and our troops pour in to wash their boots at the lake shore, sadly there's a tank there so we bide our time...
We also discover a ATG looking straight down the road at us, with the swamp and the lake flanking it's in a commanding position and our arty team haven't quite got used to our flag signals yet... [:-]

The germans morale was certainly raised after this round. We used our superior long range shooting to shake up some armor. Details from the field:
Sgt Kleemann here; SdKfz 233 reporting in. Motorcycles spotted doing the bottom of the board shuffle. Diesel fuel is burning in small patches now after several 7.5 cm shells found their targets.
2Lt Riedmuller here; Seems they've spotted our 75mm Pat40. No worries though; one can't buy just a single ATG. We may or may not be moving from this position, near the road that runs through the hilly center.
*gears grinding boom boom* U1 exchanging fire. Yes sir, Sgt Weber sir. Didn't estimate how hard it is to move in this terrain. We are sitting ducks out here on this ridge. Send some help. The SdKfz 233 that reported about 10 hits around it is here and appears to be immobilized. We have spotted a large green Soviet tank-- appears to be the T-34 model. It's shooting helluva big rounds. It's all the way across that open space.

They're burning! Lots of soviet corpses. Where the OT34 is burning, there are now engineers lying in heaps and a half track and a truck. All burning!
Very good men. Hold your ground. They are pushing hard and fast in the north. They have all the northern VH's but they aren't turn based so hold your ground. Keep your sights clean and your eyes open.

The Russians are incensed at the fact the Germans have all the sandy beach on their side of the Lake... especially as our side is now on fire! We may just shell the German beach out of spite!

Unfortunately the siesta on the beach would not last. Back to fighting. Always fighting. When will we ever get to see those Russian women?
At least some of the Russians won't be seeing their women again. A recon patrol won't be in the arms of their dearest. The motorcycle drivers will never have a girl to ride in their sidecar. And those conscripts... well... what can I say about those poor conscripts. They are sitting ducks. Someone forgot to train them.
Counter battery fire is in full swing now. Hopefully we will silence those 122's. An SU-85 with squad cover is flanking up north. Two OT-34's are trying to cut down to the main road from the top VH's. We took some shots, but these early model StuG's only get two shots. They aren't all that great if you ask me. Don't tell the gunners though. They are trying hard with what they have.

fierce fighting, my girls are fring from across the lake at a platoon of germans who had (briefly [:D]) taken up residence there... now they've gone again... lots of small arms fire but it's hard to close with those flame throwing wagens and there seem to be a LOT of Stugs about...

Flame tank reports two soviet rifle squads obliterated and one heavily damaged. That crew will need therapy for the war crimes that will weigh on its conscience.
Another stroke of luck has occurred; a crew jumped back into the SdKfz-233 and scored a kill on a halftrack. Good job men.

Agh stupid sniper. I told you range 0. I should've disabled his weapon. He was doing so good. Radioing back in the color of the panties and everything. Unfortunately, he started pissing himself as the tank got closer and closer.

The third one hit home with astounding results; panties went flying everywhere. That will teach that SU-85 not to shoot at my Mercedes-Benz in my backfield. muhahahahaha

Captain, I think our push in the center may have been premature. North reports a KV-85 moving unchecked. Infantry are not equipped to deal with it. South reports a T-34 moving up in place of those destroyed bikers. Middle reports an OT-34 coming down from the northern VH's, 2 hexes from the road. Another tank, an SU-85 is moving west on the road, two hexes from the center VH's. They are all closing fast. These pitiful StuG's don't have the ROF to deal with this many targets. I suggest reinforcements.

We have already confirmed that much of the infantry and some of the tanks, including the last one you mentioned, are part of a reinforcement group sent once they learned that the beach was a nude beach. Unfortunately, one squad of women have already been seen sunbathing at the north end of the beach where the river joins the lake.
We did manage to inflict some casualties all around, with the center pushing ahead. They are inches away from taking some VH's. Tell your troops to hold their ground. The reinforcements will be here soon enough. Use your remaining armor and artillery to hold them till then. Over and out.
