Does Do NOT React to Enemy Work?

Post by swagman »

I have a CVE TG reacting to an enemy carrier group, although the CVE TG was set to Do NOT react. Can the TG commander ignore the unit settings and react anyway? The commander was only Competency 40/Inspiration 55, so was not all they great.

I thought the Do Not React setting was an absolute.

Is there something wrong with my install?

No it's not an absolute, although it's more likely to be ignored with an agressive comander.

No, the 'do not react' setting is not an absolute for carrier TFs. They will still react one hex towards the enemy carrier TF. 'Do not react' simply prevents your carriers from charging across half the map towards Rabaul (with all it's Zeros, Nells & Bettys waiting) because enemy carriers have been sighted there.

Mitchner is the kiss of death in this matter. He has got me into deep doo doo so many times that I no longer allow him to comman carriers. Yamaguchi (I think) is also a problem for the Japanese.
