Sigh. Without trying to diminish his victory, I do want to say I made it easy for him.

Hey. You live, you learn, you die. Thanks for sharing this AAR with us. We all learn as we go, and this has been very helpful to me in improving my game play.

If you feel embarrassed, think about the fact that you're talking to a moron who, in his first PBEM game, sent Yorktown and Lexington into their first battle with all of their fighters securely strapped to the decks. Believe me, I didn't last long in that one. My opponent was gracious, but I could tell from his comments that he was wondering, "Does the sanitarium really allow people like this to have computers and Internet access?"
Put my faith in the people
And the people let me down.
So, I turned the other way,
And I carry on anyhow.

Indeed, neuromancer. Ski is correct in the fact that we all learn from the AARs. I can't tell you how much help they have been. My personal favourite "complete screw up" was in the last game, shoving a battalion of paratroopers out the door over Lunga into the waiting arms of 3 crack IJN divisions. The last thing they heard as the planes flew awy was me hollering, "Go get 'em, boys!"

Thanks for sharing the AAR with us [:)].

Let me echo the sentiments of Condor and Ski, you didn't do all that bad for a first PBEM. I've done the same and worse. UV is a complex game and it has a steep learning curve. I've lost Nouema 3 times now( probably will not happen again). I've charged into battle with my aircraft stood down on my CVs. I lost 4 of them and of course did nothing to my opponent. Analize your mistakes and try again, you will get better.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments.
And it is actually good to know that I'm not the only one to make epicly silly mistakes.

Maybe I'll brave PBEM again after all.
Maybe.

"Go get 'em, boys!"

Ouch.

And you'll screw up some more, Admiral. Even Yamamoto and Tanaka got their asses handed to 'em sooner or later.

I am also on the list of losing my entire carrier fleet to the IJN in the first two
weeks of the war and was in a defensive retreat all the way to rockhampton.
I think you two should do a rematch as this was an enjoyable read.

Thanx to all the nice guys and 1 big meanie (you know who [;)]) who have been encouraging my esteemed opponent and getting him out of the morale dumpster. I would've felt really bad if my victory turned him off UV or PBEM. [:(]

Hey neuromancer, rematch is no problem but not now. Dance card is full. Any more and the wifey will be hopping mad for lack of attention (went redline a few times already). Meantime you can watch me and Condor duke it out, reload those old turns and see if you can change 'history' and swot up on forum threads. I got a lot of hints and tips from reading the forum.

Or ask to get your butt kicked again! [:D] I'm sure there are more noobs out there you can use your newly acquired experience on. Who knows? Next time you may be doing the kicking instead.

Neuromancer - if you're up for a new game I'll play. I'll take either side, willing to do an AAR (though this would be a first for me - I wouldn't be that good at it), and like to discuss 'exactly what did happen that turn???' Love the game and enjoy playing the game....if interested send mail to frank.cooke1@virgin.net

Sorry fcooke, I've got two games starting now. Experience with other PBEM games (not UV) has shown me that is all I can handle.

Maybe later.

Thanks for the offer though.
