Greetings,

I'm tremendously looking forward to the release of this game. Perusing the rules as they currently stand, I started to wonder if the game's research model accounts for certain inequalities among the Great Powers prior to the war, most especially the superiority of the German chemical industry which permitted them to employ irritating and/or deadly fumigants much sooner than the Entente.

Do Germany, France, and England receive a headstart in any of these fields?

Thanks for the reply. Actually the British were fairly quick to take up gas with an equally horrible gusto, but committed more tactical blunders in deploying it. Glad to see the game represents the delay.

Hi, I've never heard it put that way before.
fumigants a substance used in fumigating. Fumigate to apply smoke, vapor, or gas to especially for the purpose of disinfecting or of destroying pests. [X(]

Both the British and the Germans (not sure about others) did speak in euphemistic terms of "disinfecting" the enemy's trenches. It's not a particularly compassionate vocabulary to be sure, especially considering that the Germans dragged it out again in the next war with infinitely more sinister results.

Not sure if WC would be available for the front, but if you're looking for a very heavy weapon that belches smoke and is shrouded in a noxious cloud of alcohol fumes, I'd say Churchill was probably a better bet.

Hi, After he was removed from the Admiralty he did serve on the front he commanded a battalion of the Royal Scots Fusiliers, on the Western Front. Then in 1916 he was made minister of munitions and returned to England.

An alternate use would have been to catalpult him bodily, fumes and all, into the German trenches where his volcanic epithets and drunken fulminations would certainly have scattered the enemy in abject rout.
