Help

Post by ubertechie »

I am currently struggling to resolve the following 2 issues - i know they are resolveable but currently - i have got so many maps on the go - my brain is pea soup :-)
1:I jhave a scenario - with a pre-bombardment in it - it works fine standalone - the moment i import it into a campaign - this bombardment disapears
2:I have a flip sided map(German player 1 from the right- uk player 2 from the left) - however on retreating / routing units move towards the enemy - how do i resolve this
Many Thanks
Uber
And i thought doing a 20 battle sealion campaign was a good idea !

hi,

I just have an incomplete answer on your second question: The human player in a user generated campaign ALWAYS have to be on the left side of map or in other words...he has to be the 1st player!

...don´t know what happend with your "pre orders phase" bombardment plot. Is it human or AI player?
If AI then most likely the bombarding force is second player, right? Don´t know anything about 2nd (AI) player "pre orders phase" bombardments.
I think that simply does not work at all. (never has)

hope that helps

Thanks harry - i thought this was the case - which leaves me with the choice of completely redrawing my maps in reverse - not a great prospect .....
Is there a tool to do this anywhere ?
Please help ..
Thanks Uber

Harry said bombardment-thing already.

This campaing-thing: You can build a battle as you said works as a standalone. I don't see reason why it can't work in campaing. If German is at the rigth side of the map already, and as a player 1, have you changed retreat and reinforcement flags also ? And have you changed British troops to be as a player 2? (Select UK HQ and hit F2, click 'G'-key to get to next formation and hit 'F2'. )

If you haven't solved the problem, send a scenario to me so I can take a look at it and see if there is something somple to do.

Try the following hotkeys (when in the map editor screen -- ie. *not* the scen editor) :
"period" to switch sides
"0" (zero) to place a new retreat hex for player 1
"1" to place a new retreat hex for player 2
Cheers

I think many players and designers would welcome this "Map rotating" tool, but I don´t think that´s possible. (..at least should be very hard to do) Graphic elements (shapes) in SPWAW are not symmetric and can´t simply be rotated like raster graphic elements (BMP. gif etc.)

I think even for ectizen that would be some nightmare to do!

I don't know what the format of the map file is, but if it can be fed into a 3d matrix which is then swapped from left to right one column at a time, it is brute force and slow but everything should transfer with the possible exception of some of the multihex buildings ending facing the wrong way. Its not like you are trying to rotate it 30 degrees or 45 degrees.
thanks, John.
