Frivolous question while waiting for patch & add-on

Post by Mr. Personality »

I was wondering what on Earth is said during the sound effect that follows the completion of air strikes? I hear explosion sounds, but I also hear what appears to be a voice. To me it sounds vaguely like Cliff Claven (sp?) from Cheers saying something like "It's the batter, it's the batter." Obviously, it's not Cliff Claven, and he's not saying "It's the batter" but that still leaves the question. So what is he saying and in what language? Is the speaker someone we know from Panther Games??

Guz,

"stretcher bearer...stretcher bearer"

I thought it was 'What's the matter? What's the matter?"

But why is it speeded up or slowed down? And shouldn't the Germans be saying something different? 'Was ist los?' maybe.

I also thought it was "what's the matter"; although, it never quite made sense. But I never asked as I never considered sound to be too central to the game.

HAHA - funniest thread in a while - I thought it's "get your men out, get your men out". Though I was sure I got it wrong, it was the only thing that made sense to me. I never play with sound volume up anyway.

You know... "get your men out" as in move away and take cover, we (flyboys) are coming, and we'd hate to hurt our guys - that's how I "connected" the sound FX with air attack. "stretcher bearer" really confuses me cause I see no particular sense in it. I mean, you'd need stretcher bearers for wounded no matter whether attack came from air or land or wherever...

Why the he11 is the only voice FX in the game used for air attack I would not know.

Would it be able to mod the sounds so each nationality has there own. For the GIs we could have "INCOMING!!!". And for the tommies we could have "BARON BOMBURST!!!"

did I really write all this? that's what some free time (the wife was out) and a few tinnies do to you!!!

I always got the "stretcher bearer...stretcher bearer" sound. It's the rest of the game I don't get - now where's that strategy, around here somewhere...

One day I hope to add some input instead of lurking and learning.

Panther, you really do have something great here...I will be around for the North African Campaign Game you can be assured of that.

Does it yell "stretcher bearer!" in English even when the guys under the bombs are German?

Maybe for an English air attack, the voice should say "Start the Purple!" :)
