UV/minesweeping

Post by montesaurus »

I'm presently playing a campaign as the Japanese against the Americans, and am doing pretty good. Except, I have lost all of my minesweepers. Can anyone suggest other ways to clear enemy minefields? Thanks.

Take all of your other ships and run them over the enemy minefields until all of the mines have been exploded.

Without minesweepers, you're scr#wed.
Put my faith in the people
And the people let me down.
So, I turned the other way,
And I carry on anyhow.

Escort vessels can also detect and destroy mines, although at a much slower rate (and more risk to themselves). You could consider running some low value PCs or PGs through the mined areas. I don't know whether daylight helps or not, but I feel like I have more mine strikes at night.

You'll probably still take some strikes, but at least it will be PCs and not fully loaded APs...

You can always run a large load of barges over them. They are the cheapest ship you have.

You are SCRE§§$ buddy!!!

sorry, but that is the way it is

Escorts find a few mines, but they will never find enough and won't clear a path.

I know this may sound harsh, but what about starting over and Protecting the MSW.

Otherwise, use the "Divine Wind" approach. Send them in anyway.
