user made scenarios
is anyone working on any scenarios? I think this game is great but i want to play some other battles, like on the east front or africa or earlier in the fight to retake france
RE: user made scenarios
I have done one allready, it's fictional and based on M-G. But it's in testing phase, and I want to do 3 or 4 more (like a campaing mini-serie).
The scenario asumes that german forces withdrawal along France wasn't so much caotic and loses where lighter, lso II.SS-PzKorps where withdrwn earlier and allready refitted.
Model decides to launch a counterattack with an armoured force formed by II-SS Korps (9.SS & 10.SS plus corps elements, including a tiger bn and severl artillery), with attached Tiger Bn and the pz bde. A powerfull formation of around 25000-30000 men and a lot of armored vehicles and tanks; their task is to gain control and secure bridges, and when more inf it's in the place then mass up and try outflanking 30 Corps (that in Eindhoven area map), and capture Eindhoven bridges, cutting off 30 Corps and 3 airborne divisions and giving so the initiative in the are to germans and buying time for main push towards Antwerp. In addition allies are in betteer position that they were historically, I have picked the "coup the main" drop options, and deelen options. Different reinforcement times and units will be used for different reinforcement options (favour allies/ais for the allies and for the germans).
The first map is a juction between Arnhem & Nijmegen map, centered around the island and with both cities seen. As allied you have the same objectives as in the original map (with favourable time arrivals for XXX Corps and better drop zones), as axis your job is to regain control of the bridges and cities and the head up with the masssed up II-SS Korps towards Eindhoven while other inf units secure the place, also destroying the enemy capabilities s fighting unit it's important so they cn't retake bridges or disrupt operations, so you receive a number of point if you destroy 75% of enemy units.
As I said there re different reinforcing options and these are:
Allies - Standard - Coup de main DZ, and extra bdes from the 52nd ID airlanded t deelen (early in the fight one of the red devils bde it's not present because it's securing deelen irfield, when 52nd bdes arrive nd make entry in the scenrio that one will become lso available). XXX Corps will entry earlier than it did historiclly, but with similar number of units; this is cause Model has ordered not to blow any main bridge (including Son bridge), it's neccessary for the counter-attack.
Allies - FavourAllies - Same arrival times. XXX Corps arrive at full speed meeting operation times, and the other elements of the 52nd ID (almost all arty and an extra bde) which were not transported by plane, arribe by ground attached to 30 Corps. Also the flanking corps have been able to met their objectives and free some units for the main push at Arnhem.
Alies - FavourAxis - 30 Corps was delayed a lot in Eindhoven area, so they arrive late in the scenario (when II-SS Corps it's almost ready to head towards Eindhoven), and most of units are left at Eindhoven sector securing the highway and the bridges.
Axis - Standard - Well as I said a full II-SS Korps appairs, it will move to the area within the time of 3 days, Pz Bde 107 too. Original infantry and extra units spawn, with maybe a more refitted units from II.FJ Korps. NOTE - historically the 10.SS Pz didn't have it's panther bn until later (don't remember if 44 or 45), but it will be included in the scenario, as part of the refittment of the unit. Also the 9.SS Pz will include the recon companies that it included in it's regiments, even if they didn't historically).
Axis - FavourAxis - moving II-SS to the area it's fast, so by the end of day 2 whole corp it's in place, also it's supposed that II.FJ Korps it's in better situation and cn move some better fitted units to the area to take over the bridges when II-SS has ratken them from the llies.
Axis - FavourAllies - moving of the II-SS it's slower due to enemy air force disruption and they being farther away from Arnhem. II.FJ Korps are not able to comit extra reinforcements and the II-SS will have to hold the bridges theirself for longer time.
I will include more info in .doc/txt when it's released. A part of this scenrio which is allready in testing phase, an other one will come centered around Eindhoven area, and maybe 2 or 3 more wich could be based on:
-small action along the (fictional) campaing
-MP based map
-variables due to high command decisions by any of the sides
----
A part of that I would like to do a lot more things, but it consumes lot of time. Right now, I have been able to rescue my Utah beach map and it runs perfectly with the current map editor, so I will restart the making of the scenario when I'm finnished with this one. It will be an almost historical scenario, with the difference of the american ground units being british units (americn ID or AD estabs are not present in the current game). It will represent the first 15 days or so of the Normandy battle, including the tking of Carentan and the fighting to clear that part of the Contentin peninsule. As far as that I cn't say anything more, I wanted to use Steve "Golf33" map based on Gold Beach (I think) and North Caen to mke some scenarios but it won't open with current map/scen editor.

RE: user made scenarios
These projects sound great! I can't wait to play them.
RE: user made scenarios
the bad part is that my desktop computer broke last week, so i have to use a laptop which is not mine and my time is very limited
RE: user made scenarios
KNac007,
Make sure you load the Map in the MapMaker and re-calc the Terrain and Movement and re-gen the map cache.

RE: user made scenarios
When I try to load the map on the MapMaker it gives me an error. Will try again in this computer.
RE: user made scenarios
What's the error message? Might be worth sending to us so we can check it out. Much has been done since your original map was made in RDOA's MapMaker.
RE: user made scenarios
I was talking about Steve Juno Beach map, the one in the Drop Zone. Other two maps I had can open perfectly with the current Map Editor
EDIT: Have tried with other computer, gives me same error, it is:
"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: <game path>
This application has requested Runtime to terminate it in unusual way.
Please contact ... "
EDIT2: When I click OK an other error message appairs saying:
"HTTRMM.exe - Application error
The instruction in "0x73d51351" makes reference to memory in "0x00000004" The memory can't be "read". Click in aaccept to finnish the program"
It appairs in spanish, I have translated it the best I could [:D]

RE: user made scenarios
This seems to be a huge scenario KNac007 ! (funny BTW that your user name ends exactly like mine, another James Bond fan I guess [:)])
I am not sure if I understand correctly the size of the Allied forces, are you talking about having all XXX Corps as well as the 3 airborne divisions?

RE: user made scenarios
Myself I have been thinking about making a scenario for a while and recently I have been reading books about Market Garden to get some ideas. Needless to say though, everytime I think I have a great idea for a scenario, I realized it has already been done with the standard scenarios included in the game...
The guys at Panther Games and their collaborators did a great job of covering all historical situations and a lot of plausible what-if scenarios already. I will have to invent a damn weird what-if situation to create something new! But I am mulling over 2 ideas now, and one of them is really weird...[;)]

RE: user made scenarios
Why don't you try something completely ahistorical. Try and think out of the box. Don't worry about what "could have happened", just what would be interesting. The best scenarios are where both sides get to club and things are reasonably fluid. What about a meeting engagement on the Neerpelt map between opposing armoured/mech forces that are committed piecemeal at first but build in strength.
RE: user made scenarios
2 airborne divisions and a a big part of 30 Corps in allied side, and in gemran side a full refitted II-SS Pzkorps plus several more formations (all formations that are in the in-game scenarios of Nijmegen and Arhem historical/coup de main).
It for sure makes an interesting playing, a lot of units thought, probably a relative powerfull computer will be neccessary.
The second scenario will be based in Eindhoven and it will have 30 corps, 101 airborne and several plus units on allied side. Plus II-SS pzkorps, and units from 15th army who are supposed to have withdrawn much more forces! It will be huge too.
After that I will make the Utah scenario, it's a shame because I had allready a great part of it modelled (I did it in RDOA) but have lost the scenario file (not the map though, which is finnished). Putting great detail in drop zones and german units in the area (allready had done half of the oob!). Will have to restart, damn...
P.S: hehe, the 007 has an easy explanation. first time I registered on the net (don't remember what webapge/forum/service), I registered with KNac, but then I lost pasword and had to register again with other nick. As I used to be a great fan (and I still a great fan in afct
) of the James Bond series (ey, what happens? I have fun watching these action movies
) I decided to register with 007 added at the end of my nick, since then I have using it that way, but I prefer people to call me KNac, or you can call me "Nacho", yes like that mexican food (with cheese) [:D] which is my real name (well Ignacio in reality, but one of the derivations is Nacho, like John/Johny I suppose).
what the hell, sometimes i start speaking and don't know when to shut up

Yeah, I am thinking something quite ahistorical. Like using the Fallshirmjager for their primary intended purpose could be cool no ? [:D]
RE: user made scenarios
Here is a cool idea expanding on what you posted (used FJ as they original job). Very fictional indeed, but who cares as long as it's fun
It's summer 44 and the war on the West hasn't started yet. War in Russia went well and after an armistice with Stalin after the fall of Moscow, Stlingrad and Leningrad, Hitler has decided it time to deal with the frenchies.
The tensions have increased in last months and a BEF has been send to deal with low countries defence as most of french army it's allready occuped with the defence of italian frontier and german frontier.
The OKW, has decided to use Low Countries as jumping platform into France, occuping northern France and cutting off the big BEF, and threatening Paris fast. The OKW have created 1st FJ Army for the task on the initial assault. With an unprecedent airborne operation they are to occupe strategical bridges at the cities of Eindhoven, Nijmegen and Arnhem, and the II.SS PzKorps as the sparehead of 5.Panzer Armee will breakthrought going deep into the heart of Holland and Belgium taking the allies by surprise, capturing Antwerp and cutting off an huge number of allied troops.
Sound like fun, like a reverted Op Market-Garden

RE: user made scenarios
I don't think there's a Comet-type scenario, is there? If one could overcome the map size issues it might work, since the forces on both sides would be somewhat weaker...another possibility would be Hercules/C3, the planned invasion of Malta, but I'd hate to put effort into it then find it included in the Crete game....
PS How about some short scenarios - like Arnhem historical, but only the first 4 days, say. Since it has a very different feel to the full scenarion.
Or starting at D2 or D3, say, so that the randomness of who gets to the bridge is removed - can you hang on from the historical situation. (Essentially, since the player is Urquhart, it starts when you finally get back to 1 Abn HQ)
