Luskan versus Mogami.

Post by mogami »

Hi, Banana Boy wants to play the Allies He also wants the Japanese to take advantage of the game. (Exploit it) So I am doing a turn 1 to meet his request.
I am not however going to try anything wild outside the SRA.

The Japanese plan is a straight forward attempt to take the entire SRA inside 90 days while destroying every allied unit/ship/aircraft in the process.

The results of turn 1 should be posted sometime tomorrow. (I'm over halfway done with the turn) Things to look for.

Singapore will fall in the first 2 weeks of the war. The Japanese will be on Java in the first 30 days.

So Mog, you are just going to try and do a fast track? Java in the first 30 days is a big call.[X(]

MOGAMI. I'm more worried that you can confidently claim the ability to capture
Singapore in two weeks (rather than the 2 months that were already historically
ahead of schedule). This argues rather forcefully that something in the game is
seriously "out of kilter", hindsight or not.

whow! Looks like KB and all the rest of the fleet heading straight for DEI after pearl. Even if possible, the losses for mogamis troops ought to be very high and make playing the latter half of the game not much fun.

It can be done if you bleed troops from the PI invasion and also have multiple landings on the peninsula.

MOGAMI Yamashita turned down a fourth division because three was all he felt
could be supported, and one of those was committed as a second wave. You're
saying he was totally wrong? What he really should have asked for is five Divi-
sions and more landings? This should be interesting to watch..., but I still say it
will point more to game system problems than to historic alternatives. Have to
wait and see...

Hi, 25th Army had 4 Divisions (one was a second wave) The Imperial Guards marched down from the north while the 5th and 18th landed at Songkari and Khota Bharu with the 56th landing later at Kuantan. With only 1 road in the north and 1 on the coast the supply line was rather thin.

The Japanese supported 6 divisions and 3 Bde by sea early in the war.

Besides, I've already said I'm exploiting the game. (Some players will rationalize Japan has prepared for this plan in advance)

The Japanese were in the dark in planning much of their operations. I know what is out there. (although not where it is at on turn 2)

I'm not going to bomb any ports on turn 1 except Pearl.

(I just came up for air. Turn will be sent in next three hours)

Kendari is a good one to grab early....Luskan did this to me in our PBEM IIRC he grabed it about 3 or 4 turns into the game. It has made things very interesting for the Allied player as it almost cuts off the DEI from Australia.

Haven't got the turn yet, but I think rustiness as the allies will wear off very very fast.
The other quick malaya strategy is to land everything at johore bharu - cop the losses in ships and troops and strange northern malaya.

Unless Mog concentrates his CVs in the asault on the DEI then Luskan has a chance of getting some good hits in.

Actually, studying those screenshots focuses the mind on the scale of this game.... all those bases.... all those planes.... all those ships.... I'd best warn work that july looks like a complete write off, and take my wife out alot between now and then or there will be 'trouble at mill'.
