You won't find one. Acronyms like LCU (land combat unit) and IJN (Imperial Japanese Navy) are assumed to be in every veteran wargamer's lexicon. It's a bad thing, of course, because it is standoffish to new members of the hobby. This is a good place to ask questions, though, as there are many helpful people around.

I suspect that you probably also want to know what such things as LBA (land-based aircraft), ASW (anti-submarine warfare), CAP (combat air patrol), LRCAP (long range CAP), and BSNG (bright, shiny new guy) are.

I can't help you with WTF.

BSNG? No, FNG, where NG are for New Guy. F is appropriate for your own vocabulary.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot = What the ...? Again, F for your vocab.

Seaplane tenders. They have an inherent capapbility to support aircraft (the US ones have 18 air support point - enough to support a squadron of PBYs) in any location where the ship is based. Think of them as ships with ammo and fuel storage as well as a fully equipped machine shop to handle repairs.

Kido Butai is the Japanese term for the Japanese CV force (and support ships). It possibly means 'Combined fleet'. Butai is a Japanese term meaning something like 'battle unit', if I remember well.

Anyway, when someone is using the KB term, it means the IJN CV TF (also called the 'death-star' when all CV/CVL are there).

AV is the USN code for seaplanes tenders. All ship codes (CA, CL, BB, AP, AK, SC) in the games are those used in the USN nomenclatory.

Full list on this page
http://www.warships1.com/index_tech/ind ... s_list.htm

Two oddities in UV:
IJN has CS (code of 'scout cruisers' for US), that are seaplane tenders able to operate in open sea.
Japanese barges are AG, that are supposed to be general auxiliary ships. USN barges were using codes beginning by L (for landing) like LCVP, LCT, LSI and so on.

As for places names in UV, I have seen people here also use CT (Charter Towers) and TN (for Townsville).
