Stolen assets

Post by Intrepid »

Hi,

New to this GREAT game, and new to the forum... with a couple of questions.

How can I stop other HQ's from stealing my carriers... playing as the Allies (very badly) and have central pacific under full human control- SW pacific swiped a carrier task force fired Halsey off the boat (Wasp) and ordered it to Cairnes from Johnston Is. Needless to say, it got beaten up- a CL sunk and carrier damaged (Hornet) What gives? I was about ready to move it off to Marcus with an invasion fleet.

Also, does anyone have a systematic way I can learn at least enough to stay alive? I really feel I'm floundering even though I've read the manual and looked at the PWHints doc.

Thanks

How are your HQs set? If any are set other than Human control, the AI will depart with assets to the computer controlled HQs.

Hanks for the quick reply

I have Central Pac and South Pac under human control, and pretty much the rest under full computer. Not going well around NG right now- IJN carriers stopped in for a visit and 30 MCS sprung serious leaks!

I remember my first game. It was confusing to have some HQ's in computer control and others in human control. I switched everything to full human control and learnt the game mechanics much better by doing all things by myself.

Setting all HQ's to human control is a bit daunting for a beginning player. It is usually save to set China and Australia and minor HQ's such as eastern Fleet on Computer Control. CenPac, SouPac and SW Pacific are the big three for the Allies and should almost always be on Full Human Control. (Note that you will have to manually turn over control of the North-Eastern Australian bases to MacArthur.)

One possibilty is Computer Operational Control. This allows you to fix the HQ objective while the computer does the rest of the work. If you use operational control and set the objective base to one that the HQ already has possession of, it will tend to move the AI to a defensive posture. This should help reduce the number of "stolen" ships.
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?
