A comparison:
  • The MG42 (Laf) Trp/Grp in H2H has a FC of 6 and RgF of 3.
  • The MG42 MMG in SPWaW has a FC of 5 and RgF of 3.
  • The MG42 Lafette weapon in H2H has a Max Range of 120, Acc or 44, and HE Kill of 17.
  • The 7.92mm MG42 MMG weapon in SPWaW has a Max Range of 140, Acc of 52, and HE Kill of 14.

The Lafette is the heavy tripod assembly.

kinda agree in this one, and, based on my japanese friend story, maybe we can add to the oob , another japanese militia unit using katana sword (some japanese families at that time owned this weapon)...

then we all can re-play "Last Samurai" in SPWAW ... :)

My own (admittedly twisted) choice is the Japanese 1945+ militia unit ...

Attacking the foe with bamboo spears and pottery grenades is kinda sad, but nothing is more satisfying than infiltrating these guys into a good location and going "Stone Age" on some expensive unit's ass ...

While I'll always have a place in my heart for cavalry, especially in the desert where they leave no tracks, I like engineer units. Their rifles and mgs provide adequate punch against other foot units, and their close-in demo weapons can make short work of fixed defences and AFVs in a pinch.

I like "infantry" units that have any sort of (long range) automatic/semi automatic weapon in their weapon slot nr.1 This could be the soviet SVT40 squad, the normal US M1 Garand squad, or any of the germans like FG42 paras, SS Gew41/43 or late war Stg44. You definitely don´t need any LMG in slot2 then, as slot1 automatics already should have done the killing job sufficiently. If not, the LMG would be of no use anyway as you would be required to shoot with it at a grounded/pinned enemy (infantry) unit.

For close quarters battles any SMG equipped units do the job nicely, but I usually prefer longer range for nr.1 weapon slot. For secondary infantry weapons, I like the common toys like satchel charges, AT mines and Fausts very much.

I like the latter NZSMG squads. Armed with 2in Mortars, SMG's, a bren and a Piat, these are good all round infantry. Unfortunately, I very rarely hit anything with a PIAT! Ok, and Brens are not the scary either. Oh what the heck, I like Rangers, too! The latter era Commandos are great - armed to the teeth and with an option of infiltrating. Please don't talk to me about USMC F*! Evildoing Deathbringers, the lot! [&o]

Hardy, harr, harr! Anything you're sporting on the field of battle bugs me. Unless it's those nice Brits with the Sten guns with a range of 2. I love those. I mean, I love it when my opponent has those. hehehe (I learned that lesson the hard way. But not so hard as my Skitroop lesson, G..Da.. Skitroops!! Now I'll be in a bad mood the rest of the day.)[;)] (skitroops, mumble, mumble, mumble...)

The FJ shall also have the FG-42, no? Was it used as semi-auto or automatic rifle?

I'm rather fond of the Soviet Paratroopers as an early war infantry. Their SVT rifles are much better than the Mosins, and the grunts actually rally most of the time, unlike most other early-war Soviet units...

I also have a fondness for cavalry. It always makes me chuckle when I charge them into the enemy's routed and suppressed units. [:D]
They're not too bad at scouting, either.
