corruption

I have tried downloading the game cos it looks really promising but after several attempts from different sites the 5 files never complete installation. i get to 4 and recieve an error telling me of a corruption.

the game is taking a couple of hours to d/l each time so the not working part really isn't helping me justify using my dads bandwidth.

I am downloading using 3 different browsers to see if that is the problem, i have tried Mozilla, NetScape 7.1 and IE 6. I am running Win98se also.

A person with the exact same error was reporting this on the old board, but unfortunatly i cannot find this person to ask of the solution. If the game cannot run on win98 i would appreciate if someone could tell me.

It can. I have burned demo install to CD-R and I have tried it with 2 Win98SE machines. One has FAT32 file system and it didn't install. Other 1 has FAT16 and no problem. I underline that in both cases install file was in CD-R.

FAT16 is obsolete and it has at least 2 major problems: large allocation units and maximum size for logical partition of 2 gigabytes (2048 kilobytes). Today it is used in floppy disks and on harddiskdrives mostly becouse its compatibility between various operating systems. I use it so I can play old DOS games from DOS.

FAT16 partition didn't work for me either: neither from nor to FAT16 - guess cause the TEMP was still on a FAT32 partition...

BUT I found a solution that worked for me(even with file 4 installing forever)

Started Win98SE in safe-mode and installed from there and all on FAT32... [;)]
