Suplply question with FOW

Frank Hunter's Campaigns on the Danube is an operational study of the campaigns along the Danube in 1805 and 1809. Campaigns on the Danube's system focuses on trying to present the player with the same sort of decisions placed on their historical counterparts; how to feed an army and move that army according to a plan, all the while trying to fight a campaign. There is also an option to allow players to play out the battles with miniatures and input the results.

Suplply question with FOW

Post by DoomedMantis »

Should I be able to see my supply convoys when using full FOW? I cant see them, but wanted to make sure this was a game function and not a problem.

No. You can't see your supply convoys, nor are you reminded which ones are in transit on the supply centre screen.

However, you can see your depots and you can see how much supply is present at each depot and how much is in corps supply trains.

Since supply is mentioned here, I have to ask, how are you doing with your supply during the game?...I seem to be draining mine rather quickly and constantly having Corps out of supply...any tips on this subject would be greatly appreciated....

I can't claim to have a solution to your problem as I suffer similar difficulties myself though generally towards the end of the campaign when supplies seem to run out 'full stop'.

My approach is:

a) Never let the computer handle supplies, it can't read your mind and doesn't always make sensible decisions.
b) Send fresh supplies to a corps when supplies get low (less than 50) not when they run out.
c) Don't move supplies back and forth, its wasteful.
d) Your strategy must consider the issue of supplies, don't plan your strategy without considering how to supply your troops.
e) Always consider the road/river network when choosing your OC.
f) Keep the OC as close to the head of your advance columns as is safe but never change it to a town with no supplies.

Incidently, in almost every game I have played my OC has fallen into enemy hands at least once. This is worrying but not disasterous as long as you capture it back promptly.
