CC series had terrible AI
I never had problems whipping the AI

CC2 was the best out of the series because it actualy presented a challenge

I have to agree with you there. The enemy was moronic. Forget about playing defensive games - the enemy would attack piecemeal if at all. It was nice for multiplayer though.

Well, for the moment, I am trying it out to see what I missed when I was a prop head. :)

Also, I am interested in how the campaign system works. There are lots of mods to try out and quite a few that add to the challenge.

neofit,

Welcome! Good posts. I see that others have responded to most items. I note that Golf33 mentioned that you need to use the yellow deployment box around the FUP to position it correctly. Just line the forward edge of that just within the woods and your assault troops should stay within the woods.

As to the successive line formation. As this is coded at the moment the Regt will deploy its Bns one behind the other and the Bns will deploy their companies one behind the other. The companies however, will each adopt a line formation to project max firepower to the front. So while they may look like a column of counters the units are in fact in line not column.

Now that you have drawn it to my attention I can see some merit in either having an additional formation type or replacing the behaviour of the current one which would have the Bns deploy their companies in line. This would facilitate more coverage and more firepower to the front. However, it would expose armoured formations with only one inf company to greater danger when attacking covered terrain. At the moment when a mixed arm/inf force assaults covered terrain, the inf is pushed to the front. however, if the lead Bn had only one inf coy and two armoured ones then these will all end up in front. For that reason alone I think it best to have an additional formation type rather than replace the current one. What do others think? Would you like an extra formation type along these lines?

Thanks for the "meaty" discussion. Good stuff. [:)]

Not sure where to go with that one Dave.

I think all you would be doing is committing mass suicide with all your armor being wiped out before you could react, but then again i don't charge into wooded areas without sending a scout to fix and arty to break them so it doesn't matter to me. [:D]

Based on order delays, by the time you could undo the attack, you would have destroyed most of the group.
