I guess Chinese officials won't be too happy with WAW either [:D]

My response to another forum about this was that I would have been more impressed by the Chinese Government if the official reason HOI was banned was because it simply sucked!...[;)]

[:-] I respectfully disagree. HOI is a good game. It's fun and very addictive. HOI has it's own niche in the WWII wargame market... My main gripe about the game is that it can still be rather buggy. Just my opinion.... Everybody is entitled to one! [:D]

PS - Looking forward to WAW! [:)]

Gentlemen, please! [8D] I didn't intend this to be "HOI - very good or awfully bad?" thread of the week [:D] There were quite enough of those methinks...

I only posted this insofar as ih has something to do with the Chinese and historical gaming - and most of what's said in the article obviously applies to WAW as well.

Well coincidently in the AAR thread, I had wondered if playing the Chinese would be a rewarding experience because of the way the game is constructed...while they may piggy back on the other Allies to gain a victory, I guess their main objective would be to tie up as many Japanese troop as possible until the US and USSR enter the fray..... now this may or may not be the case, but if it is, then probably the Chinese Gov't would consider WAW insulting as well.....

Playing ONLY Chinese won't be much of a rewarding experience IMO, unless you're masochist [:D] I guess they will always be played together with at least one of the superpowers, as 4-players PBEMs will be in my expectation fairly common (they are great fun! [:D]). 2-player games are of course enjoyable as well, and it goes without saying that in those games Allied player will control China along with WA and RU.

But I do love having them as separate side in the game! It is definitely refreshing approach to grand strategy gaming and warranted from a historical viewpoint, so thumbs up for this.

Will the PRC officials find it insulting? I guess if they follow the same "reasoning" as is the case in the article above - they will. What "insulted" them in case of HOI is the very existence of Manchukuo and Japanese controlled Taiwan in the game, despite the well known fact that these entities existed historically. Not to mention Tibet [:D] They don't want them mentioned in a game even if they existed (or exist) in reality. By this reasoning I'm afraid WAW is as "guilty" as is HOI.

That is downright silly! [8|]

Oh well, I guess we in the West aren't the only ones guilty of revisionist history.

Hmmph, I though C&C was downright nice to China.

Oh well, the vast majority of all software in China is pirated black market stuff anyway, so I doubt anyone feels any particular loss.
