7.1 to 8.1?

Hi,

have been happy playing 7.1 with MC LV for quite a while. Now I have managed to convert a RTS player to SPWAW for a MP tryout. The only problem is, that I have 7.1 and you can now download 8.0 (8.1).

So my questions:


1) How much of an improvement is 8.1 to 7.1?

2) (How) can I update my 7.1 to 8.1 without d/l the whole 8.0 version?

3) I made some very minor changes to the TO&E files, for example making the StG-44 slightly stronger. I know when updating to 8.1 these files would be overwritten, but just out of interest, can you play MP with different oob files.

Depends, statwise the Panther UHU is about the equivalent of the 1960s Leo1. The armor model was BADLY skewed in 8.1.

Very simple, you can´t. It´s 8.0 or nothing.

c.topfer the guys might have missed a useful detail.

Is your friend local to where you live?

If yes, you can just as easily give him a copy of the Steel Panthers program via your MC Cd. No I did not say the MC portion of the program, just the core game.

Some will argue to stay with 7.1. Some will say get the latest version.

It could take you a loooooong time finding out who is right

If your new player buddy is local, you might get better milage out of letting him install 7.1 from you. And you could help him out with your modification easy too.
