SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

Hi all
just a small problem, but itching at the moment. For "Old Hag" scenario I am creating I need to shift a "deployment line" and cannot figure HOW. Quick help welcome.
I am RTFM in the meantime ... no success so far, even page number would help.

As it happens I just figured out how to do this very thing today.

On the deployment screens in the scenario editor there's a button with two small flags at the bottom left of the toolbar. Click on this and you'll be presented with three buttons with different coloured flags on them. The first two are to place each side's front line and the third is for automatic frontline placement.
All you have to do is click one of these first two and then click on the map to place the front-line flag for the row. Do this for each row on the map and there you go, a new deployment area is made.

I figured this out while trying to get my own non-scenario map to work. I found out that you have to place victory locations even on non-scenario maps which is something I asked for on Wild Bill's 'What Would You Like' thread. And it did it all along.

And you think you're dumb...

I started to say something, Spunk, but I decided to wait. I knew you would find it.
Play around with those keys on the map. Learn what they do. Some can create havoc on a map so always save anything of value first..WB

There are some "tricks" to get SPWAW or SP3 to obey your commands when using custom maps for generated battles....... I have posted a document entitled "map-making in SP3" or something like that which explains the process. A very frustrating experience at times until the right sequence of actions is discovered. That's why I posted the instructions - hoping to save others from the pain and suffering of all the trial-and-error.

I did quite a bit of map making with SPWW2 but I always got annoyed at the way you'd build up this map with cunningly defendable locations and then the game would put the victory hexes in the middle of a field or somewhere.

It's a wonderful thing being able to create non-scenario maps with realistic objectives. After all, why would anyone want to capture a field when there's a strategically placed hill top town nearby?

BTW Cheers for not bringing up the fact that SPW@W already does what I was asking for, Bill. You're a true gent.

So much so that I really almost quit playing without custom objectives. The v-hexes in the field were hard to accept.

Map-making is much more fun when the player has control over the start lines and victory objectives.
