'Aircraft X attacks sub'

Post by Hartley »

Are there unreported hits in these attacks ?

Do the subs at least burn some fuel ?

Hi,

Yes, to both your questions. Even subs that are only spotted will burn some extra fuel.

Rob.

In all my PBEM, I have never seen a sub being hit without a message annoucing it. On the other side, I have seen several times 'hits claimed by US planes' during the turn and the IJN sub has only 1 or 2 SYS damage and nothing more. Maybe a dud. Not a replay problem as I play Japanese.

As for fuel, subs used it both when they are seen and attacked. In fact, if they are not attacked every time they are seen, that is because they dive and escape from the area, so using fuel.

Actually, this is the result of pilots claiming lots of hits, but in actuality not scoring one. Same thing with fighters claiming downed a/c when they really didn't shoot anything down. Fog of war. That's why you'll often see 'CV X' hit by bombs, but when you check your ship, it took no damage.

You will also see shipping getting nailed by bombs from naval search aircraft as well, bit of pain but it does happen sepecially when it slows down one of your transport TF to 6 knots and leaves them in lba range in the morning![:(]
