Scenario 5 - King of the Hill - Tactics Suggestions

Post by Chuck Stotz »

I plan to play each scenario at even prefrences and will occasionally come here for advice if anyone is willing to give it. Got through the first four ok but am at an impass with 5. The Germans blow me away at every angle. Any suggestions as to the correct approach to the hill.

Hello Chuck
I know this is a tough scen and more so now, then when it initially was made.
The best suggestion I have for you is to use the "search" function on this forum and look for "king of the hill" in the subject. You'll find some interesting subjects relating to this scenario (even an AAR by Bravo11) <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

I too, have worked this one to death. I have managed a draw, and even captured most of the
hill during one game. I was in sad shape, as were
the Germans. One of the most usefull weapons is
the morters. Once you analyze the scenario you can do quite a bit with them to neutralize strong
points. That AT gun on the hill is a real problem, but it can be suppressed with HE and assaulted IF certain things are orchestrated correctly. I agree with the notion that the scenario has probably gotten tougher as a result
of ver. changes. In my opinion, the simplest thing that can be done to bring it back into line would be to give those morters more ammo, or to
add another tube. That still won't make it simple, but it will give one a chance to win it with effort. Its one heck of a design.
