On this day,

From the Navy News Service

1941 - First escort carrier, USS Long Island (CVE 1), commissioned.

Now don't that make you feel warm and fuzzy?

Again the poor LI receives abuse. In one of my recent pbem games, the LI was my only way of getting fighters to Oz from Noumea. I can't bear to see her ridiculed. How many times have I sent her back to Pearl to get that next CV? and she keeps coming back like a faithful dog.

I found her useful in UV for carting fighters around. Im sure I will find them alot more useful in WiTP since the distances are greater. I never tried but...can you actualy run flight ops off of them? Im sure you could use them for their namesake role of escorting transport TF's.
