Selective minesweeping

Post by Drex »

I've played Uv since it came out but never came upon this situation: I lay a minefield at one of my bases. My opponent then lays a minefield in the same hex. While my ships will not hit my mines at my base they most certainly can hit my opponents, so I send a minesweeping TF in. But am I removing my opponents mines or my own? or both?

Interesting question.....never had that happen either.
There are only two kinds of people that understand Marines: Marines and the enemy. Everyone else has a second-hand opinion.

IF you own the hex you remove just his.

If he owns the hex and you send your minesweepers in then you clear both sets.

Hi all,
ORIGINAL: Drex

I've played Uv since it came out but never came upon this situation: I lay a minefield at one of my bases. My opponent then lays a minefield in the same hex. While my ships will not hit my mines at my base they most certainly can hit my opponents, so I send a minesweeping TF in. But am I removing my opponents mines or my own? or both?

You are only removing his mines in example you wrote above.

This is because his mines are "offensive" and your mines are "defensive".

BTW, you can test it any time - just select your "Mine Warfare" TF that has some MSW inside and order it to clear some of your own base HEX that contain your "defensive" mines. Your MSW would never do anything there...

Thanks to Doomed and Leo for their info. I'm still learning about this game after all this time.
