Evacuation

Post by Bill Durrant »

My manual at 8.22 describes Naval Evacuations. It states this can be done by a Transport TF by selecting Load Troops then choosing the Pick Up Unit option. I've tried this but just can't find a Pick Up Unit option. Any ideas?[&:]

This option is for Fast Transport TFs only I believe.
Fast Transport TFs are made up of fast warships that can fly in at flank speed at night and pick up and be out by morning. I usually use cruisers because of their longer legs, but destroyers run good too.
The manual has a section on task force actions under react to enemy or donnot react. Look for the Fast Transport TFs in this section and it can give ya a little help.

Thanx

What threw me was the manual stating that AP were allowed in Fast Transport TF but as soon as you transfer AP into them they revert to just normal transport.

Ft transport and fighter cover

Post by AmiralLaurent »

A little precision:

if fighters are at the evacuated base, even grounded, the FT TF may arrive there during the day phase and get slaugthered by enemy planes. What you usually want is that the tF arrives at night and leaves at dawn. So you have to choose a base that is under the flank speed of your TF as its start area or you have to be sure no fighters are in the base.

Evacuation runs will usually pick up only parts of the units, leaving behind especially disabled squads. Don't except 5 DD (1000 pts ol load possible) to evacuate 1000 men. The real number will probaby be from 600 to 200, depending of the state and size of the port IMOO.

The FT TF will load as much as it can unload in a delivery phase when it is taking troops. When it is picking up troops, it is as the good admiral said, they only pick up pieces regardless of capacity in the TF.

yes I did and then sent it back to ya i thought. I'll look when I get to the house. I delete them after I send them. You may want to resend it to me just to be sure.

Ya meant the first one right?

I use the same e-mail at work and leave a copy of the e-mails on the server for when I get home. I haven't recieved one today. I sent the first turn to ya yesterday.
