Forgotten Battles-Aces

Post by crsutton »

Even if you do not fly sims. I highly recommend that you check out the Forgotten Battles web site and look over the forum there. For those of you who do not know, this is a state of the art sim based on the Russian front. It really is the best out there. None the less, the forum is a must be place for details on aircraft. There are a lot of very smart people who know a lot (sometimes too much[:'(]) about airplanes posting there

They are currently developing a Pacific sim based on the same engine so there is a lot of conversation going on now about Pacific theater aircraft. I have been crazy about airplanes all my life but have learned more about WWII aircraft in a year of following that forum that I have previously learned in my entire life. It is worth checking out even if you are not into sims.

Of course there is a tremendous amount of silly debate there but there is a lot to be learned between the posturing.

Just Google "Forgotten Battles"

Yes, I fly FB - and am currently working on a Historical Campaign based on the 4th FG. Should be cool once I get it done some months from now.

I picked it up because i was attempting to learn to fly in world war 2 online...:) guess which game I play the most now. IL2 is easily the best looking (and playing) flight sim I have ever had my hands on. I cannot wait for Pacific Fighters (this fall) by the same company.

its sad for me...because years before i had thought it would be really cool to have a simulation that focused on the almost never visited realm of Russian air combat. I remember getting all excited when a Russian mod for Aces in the Pacific was created.

ah well....someday

One of Russian developers said that new improved AI will be the true pearl of this game, it should impress players more than PF outstanding graphics, now AI pilots can do far better in massive dogfights and AI flight leader really control combat situation (false retreat tactics, requests for reinforcements etc.), now there is no way you can kill more than 2 AI aces in one engagement, even if you’re hardcore Il2 veteran.

Another great news, VEF veterans are going to set up new PACWAR server for Pacific Fighters, anyone want to join AKAGI airgroup? [;)]

I can envision another hardware upgrade just for this one. I imagine it's going to take a heckuva lot more horsepower than my GeForce3![:)]
