AAR - PBEM Game 3
PBEM Game 2 has been completed. You can check out the complete AAR here:
tm.asp?m=617205
If you want to learn more about GG:WAW PBEM Game 2 offered lots of information on all the various screens and strategies.
We are starting another player PBEM game, and we'll post after action reports as we go again.
this time the opponents are:
Germany : MButtazoni (Maurice)
Japan : Oleg Mastruko
Russia : j campbell (John)
Western Allies & China : paullus99 (Lawrence)
This game we will be using the advanced supply rules but will still use Auto Supply. That means units NEED supply with or adjacent to them or need to trace an uninterupted chain of Tranpsorts/Rail to supply to consume it for combat and movement.
we are also using version 1.801 Alpha, which includes new graphics (rail net) and militia acticvation when "home" countries are attacked.
first turn coming (after i pick my kid up from school)...

Yes, basic FOW rules are implemented, however leave it off for another game while you guys get used to the system and Advanced supplies rules. Next game go for FOW.

RE: AAR - PBEM Game THREE
Spring 1940,
Germany attacked and conquered Norway, Denmark, Nehterlands, France, and Yugoslavia. The Yugoslavia attack was a naval invasion. the latest versions of the game have the WA fleet out to see to stop GE from a turn 1 invasion of Cairo. it's still possible to invade Cairo, but a naval battle would have to occur first, and i'm not ready to sail my navy into harm's way just yet.
I also repaired all the French, Yugo, and Netherlands resources, i want to start pumping those into factories next turn.

Hi
I posted in the other AAR a question about if redeployment of units was possible the first turn, I gues it is not from your indications about Cairo, wouldn´t that be possible as an option, within some limits? that would add some replay possibilities to the game as well.

OK, I play Japan here... didn't do much first turn, started some research and production, tried to attack some infrastructure from air but failed (no losses). No screenshots this turn from me (loose lips sink ships [:D][:D]).
These guys (Japanese) seem in really screwed up position...

How did you manage to take Yugoslavia with naval invasion?? Did you use Italian transports and their militias? Isn't that a bit risky?

Spring 1940
Due to a "misunderstanding" in the Soviet officer corps a certain Comrade Campbell has been removed from command and sent to undergo Political Sensitivity Training and Patriotic Thought Restructuring classes at an undisclosed location. I shall be his replacement.
This turn was uneventful for Russia. Infantry, artillery and flak units went into the build queue. Research was funneled into improving my mechanized units while the cost is still cheap. Train engineers drilled for war by moving supplies around.
(Turn sent to paullus99.)
(For those of you who don't know, John is on vacation in Cozumel.)

Western Allies - Spring 1940
Here we go again (but I'm on the other side of things now) - since we are playing with Simple Supply rules off - it will be a little more difficult & realistic this time around....should be very interesting...
As the Western Allies, my first priority was to clear the Atlantic of U-Boats, which we were partially successful - damaging & destroying several subs...we will continue our research to improve our anti-sub units to keep the threat from severing our Atlantic lifeline.
We also strengthened our defenses & put the Home Fleet on alert for possible action. In Africa, we kicked the upstart Italians out of East Africa, but not much else.
Production was limited to ground units, research & supply. Our industries are limited at the moment - but we hope to fully gear up within the year.
In China, we moved into Indochina (which was empty) to deny the Japanese some free resources & produced more infantry.

These guys have enough keystrokes to pound away at providing us with these informative AAR's, cut them some slack and let them use a shorter word...sheesh!...[8|]
RE: AAR - PBEM Game THREE
It's no big deal to me but SU would be both shorter and more historically correct.

RE: AAR - PBEM Game THREE
The German Summer 1940 turn is in the books, nothing awe inspiring happened so no screenshots.
I did take Greece out though. i figure i can defend the coast later in the war better than the Greek army that was there. i filled my factories this turn with resources so i had 34 production points.
i'll detail that for ppl that care:
here are my factories x production multiplier = factory points
East France 1 x 1 = 1
South France 2 x 1 = 2
Rumania 3 x 1 = 3
Germany 10 x 2 = 20
Italy 4 x 2 = 8
therefore i have 34 factory points, i have 35 resources, so the production points are the lower of the two; 34 (any one ever play Wif? [;)]). the 1 resource will be carried over to next turn (pooled). factory points are never pooled, resources are pooled in a limited fashion.
the (EDIT: removed "Italian and") German production multipliers will go to x3 in 1942 or GE attacks the SOVIET UNION whichever occurs first. at that point i will need more resources to fill the production capacity, but until then my factories are pumping at max throughput.

RE: AAR - PBEM Game THREE
I think they should be required to always type out the full name!
The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, no abreviasions!
Even better, make them type in the actual Russian terms!
In other words... don't sweat the small stuff. We know what they mean.
Yeesh, people complain about the silliest things.

My favorite being, as Inaki here knows, RKKA - Rabotnicheskaya and <something beginning with K> Krasnaya Armiya! Ie. Workers and Peasants Red Army.

Well, you may have noted that playing the Soviet side I did mostly use the term "Soviets" in our long AAR here on the board. But the official name for the side in the game is Russia. I don't think this is incorrect, at least not in a game that "amalgamates" UK and USA (and France, and others) into "Western Allies", or where Italy is just a "part" of Germany [:D]

Just a note of correction, Italy's production multiplier does not increase.
