Impossible real size?

Post by Sky_walker »

I found that there is impossible to make goog fight mode for fighters saveing they real size.
When I'm calculating ship's real size (ship length in magic * scale) and set up vlimit (is it ship's top speed, or am I wrong?) like real speed of the ship (about 90 km/h) flights are likge that:
Little fighters fly one by one and they are shooting (never hits!), from 1 km enemy ship is a little dot, but when I'm pressing afterburner (I'm still 1 km beyond enemy) my fighter goes in front of him with no chanse to hit.
(I hope that you understand what I meann [;)])
Did anyone make good and real scale fly model for fighters?

I remember milo saying he scaled his ships *4 and the fighters *8 so they wouldn't be just little dots. You may want to consider the same thing.
blaa.

90 km/h isn't very fast - that's like freeway speed in most major cities. Remember that the velocity indicators are in meters per second. 90 km/h = 25 m/s.

If you are using fighters that are about 10 - 25 meters in length, combat should work fine with speeds in the 300 - 500 m/s range. But you are mainly going to be doing missile combat like modern jet fighters. If you want WWII style gun fights, you will need to cut your speed limits in half, say 100 - 200 m/s.

Good luck!

milo

I find your ship sizes and speeds beeing a good mix between gun and missile fight.

What are the lengths of your ships?

Also what is 1 unit in Magic corresponding to in the game? 1 meter?

By default. You can use scale parameter to change that. Very useful if you have models from elsewhere and I use it to scale Star Wars ships right. And milo's fighters are overscaled.
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.
