One thing that is different is Political Point. I get 50 a day so with 2 day turns I'm getting 100 per turn. In other games I did not have the patients to wait for them to build up, but now I can just wait two turns and I have 200 points to play with.

same goes for land movement. Things "seem" to move much quicker because your going two (or three) days between turns so one has to keep on their toes at times to ensure they are current with events.

This is why I LOVE this game!

Well I saw two invasion TFs heading my way and I had three places to chose from, and I picked the one in the middle. This turn I'm going to try a double whammy. I've set the TF's DH as Aitae and it’s HP as Wewak. So if things go right the TF should move to Aitape and attack and then when it returns to HP attack the ships there.

Battle at Yenen

Post by Capt. Harlock »

It was a good turn for the Allies.

You must have the German-trained Chinese units at Yenen -- they're giving better than they're getting, with no fortifications to speak of. But why are the Allied bombardments not inflicting any casualties? In a target-rich environment such as that, you'd think it would be scarcely possible to land a shell without doing damage to something with a rising sun on it.
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

I like the sea background on the surface battle display, but it looks odd with the 2-D ship profiles pasted onto the background..oh well

This seems awkward.

This is one of the things that I'm seeing that I don't like in the ground combat routine. From looking at many results in AARs, it appears that bombardment attacks are treated in a parallel manner to ground attacks, so if you attack with fewer guns than your opponent you take casualties but your opponent doesn't. Sorry, but that doesn't make any sense. I remember your comment before about counterbattery fire, but I don't buy the rationalization. Please poke your colleagues to think this one through a little more.

Thanks -

If 3 pop guns start banging away at me, i'd expect my 49 guns to do better in return. After all....'do onto other as they would do onto you' and all that [;)]

seriously, if you look at the top AAR on this page, you'll see that there are instances where the side with fewer guns still caused more "casualties" than the defender did despite having more guns.

Besides...its not the casualties that count...

Or one of the Aussie gunners mixed up their Fosters cans with a high explosives cartridge.
