Two More Good Ones from Grenadier

Post by Wild Bill »

Nearly every member of the Beta Team and the Raider staff has its predilections in both gaming and history. Mine is the Pacific.

Brent "Grenadier" Richards, a Raider and a Beta tester is a talented scenario designer.
Brent is our guru on the East Front.

He has produced two jewels that are to be found in the Game Depot of The SPWAW web site (You are here now. ...just go to main page and click on Game Depot.

They're brand new! Even have that "new" smell, but they are some tough fights!

One is a very accurate recreation of an historical moment, an unwinnable situation that so often confronted German commanders in Russia.

The second..finally, the Grenadier has given us a "choo-choo," or a reasonable facsimile!
Yes, an incoming German train comes under attack from marauding Russians just as it arrives.

You've got to get those tanks unloaded and into action quickly!

Its a very tense battle, wagering time against danger. They are both quick play so you'll be later for supper again tonight Image

Seems like the right time and place to ask.

Could someone please help - I apologise if this is a stupid question, but...

I cant seem to install the downloaded scenarios and campaigns. I downloaded three last night. When I unzip them which folder to I aim for? I unzipped a couple to the Campaign folder, but each time they kept over writing each other. Do you have to alter there names for each list?

And just one other question (which I think may have been answered) - is there a down load for the manual. I understand it is similar to SPIII. Had a hunt for this one last night - found the box and disk - no manuel.

While I'm here - many THANKS Matrix and Wild Bill for a great remake. The all time favourite is back - like a long lost brother. It is a very unselfish act...but boy, what an act.

Cheers

Nik

There was a slight delay, but we have them up there for your pleasure. I'd suggest checking the game depot from time to time. We may surprise you.

Hey Nik,

There is a section in the manual (which you don't have) about how to manage campaigns.

First, all scenarios are to be unzipped into the \Scen subdirectory of SPWAW.

BUT...Important, I would unzip them into a temp folder first. Check their numbers against scenarios you already have in the game.

If they are the same, they will overwrite each other and you don't want that.

So then you change the numbers in the newest ones to a blank slot in your game.

Next, campaigns. You are right. They do overwrite each other. So you must remove the campaign you have in the game before unzipping another into it.

That is why I strongly recommend that you keep all your campaign zip files in the \campaign subdirectory of the game.

Until there is a better way, this is the only way. Its not our choice. That is the way the campaign editor was done by SSI and we have not had a chance to remake it.

But it works fine this way. Play a campaign, keeping the original zip file intact. When you are finished, delete those files from your \scen subdirectory.

Then you can install a fresh one.

Tell you what,Nik, your E-Mail address is not available. Send it to me and I'll send you the manual.

I'll also send you the instructions on how to manage campaigns.

Here is my E-Mail address:

I'm ready when you are...Wild Bill

Have just played the train scenario Baptism of Fire I(as a break from a Long Campaign). Enjoyed it very much .It made a change to start a game in the centre of the map with the front line all around.Cossacks and more tanks turning up in turn 4 was worrying but by turn 6 the Soviets were contained and a decisive victory ensued.Interior lines! Now back to the campaign Image
