Ver. 1.900 AAR (john and Normal view)

Post by j campbell »

Ok now we have upgraded to version 1.900 and i am currently playtesting this PBEM with advanced supply but FOW is off. in my matches against computer FOW will be on.

I am Axis and Normal View is Allies + Russia

Turn 1
Germany

Actions: Results:
5 inf vs. Lowlands 1 dmg inf (Ger) 1 dmg inf + 1 dest. inf (WA)
6 Pz/1 Hvy air/2 tac air vs. Paris 4 dmg + 1 dest inf + 1 dest Art (WA)
U-boat vs transport N. Atlantic 1 dmg transport (WA)
Uboat cs transport S america coast 1 dmg transport (WA)

Strat moves:
It fleet sortie to C Med.
1 inf + 1 PZ + 1 Art + 1 Flak moves to Tobruk
Flak unit + Ftr air - Lowlands

Research:
Hvy research spending this turn as it will aloow for quicker response and expansion based on what Normal will do with the allies

I spent on:
sub torpedoes and evasion (critical research in my opinion)
panzer attack
Tac air vs ground
Ftr air to air (should keep those Hvy bombers busy from bombing the Reich)
Art attack

Production:
i cancelled the aircraft carrier and Hvy fleet and expanded U-boat fleet production up by 2 to be at 3

i ordered 2 mech units 2 tac air 2 ftr air some inf and artillery the rest was spent on infrastructure repair (very costly) and construction of supply (after all my actions and strat moves this was down to 35 pts!!!

Japan

strat railed units around-Heavy build up in Manchuria
built supply and research (lt fleet ASW)

built 3 inf units and ftr air

seems my strategy with japan goes counter current to most playtesters. I favor a massive build up in China -the SRA is practically undefended so it only takes 2 moves to secure it when the time comes -i think early 1943 but most move along traditionall timelines. there are 7 resource pts in the SRA-inthe areas in Soviet Far east and China that are comquerable with minmial losses (acceptable losses might be more appropriate) there are 4 resources and 3 factories. plus your lines of defense are easier. i favor getting into the soviet far easy and china early then trying to snatch the sra or parts of it just before the Americans prevent our quest for hegemony over the pacific.
we will have to see how it pans out now that the Russian production multilpier is x2 in the first year of the war.

Spring 1940

Soviet Union

Moved some supply over the border into China.

Research went into improving Land Attack for armor units.

The battleship was removed from the Leningrad build queue to make room for more useful units.

Units in production: Infantry x13, Militia x2, Armor x6 and one factory in the Southern Urals.

My aim is to build up the front line in the west and prepare units in the east to respond to any attack by the Japanese.

Western Allies

First I'm going to try to put an end to Germany's North African Adventure. Five heavy fleets, five light fleets and a carrier air unit attack the fleet in the Mediterranean (3 hvy, 3 light, 1 fighter). On the German side two heavy fleets and the fighter air unit were damaged. The allies had one heavy fleet and one carrier air unit damaged. The enemy fleet retreated to the Adriatic.

A heavy bomber unit from England attacked Eastern France and damaged one resource.

Attacks were made on two German subs in the Atlantic. One was destroyed and the other attack had no effect. Convoys were shifted south to route around the remaining sub.

Several fleets with air cover are patroling the North Sea. The carrier from the Med put to port in England so it can recover the repaired carrier air unit next turn.

Researching air attack and range for fighters, ASW for light fleets, land attack for heavy bombers, surface attack for tactical bombers.

Units in Production: Infantry x2, Fighter x1, Heavy Bomber x3, Carrier Air x2, Carrier x4, Heavy Fleet x4, Transport x4 and one factory each in Northwest US and South Central US.

China

Nothing to report.

Units in production: Infantry x3, Flak x1

SP 1940

Germany

Our U-boats took a beating in the atlantic- 2 lost.
the last U-boat sortied and damaged a transport off S american coastline.
Yugoslavia was taken out with 2 damaged inf units (Yugoslavia is one tough territory in this game)

i tried to take out a British carrier fleet with a sub/tac air/hvy air but with 85% chance of success but we failed to do any damage-will probably cost us our italian u-baoat

production-stepped up infantry production and stockpiled resources/supplies for the invasion of Soviet union scheduled for some time next year.

Research-2 more points to both tank attack and defense and 1 point for sub attack and defense.

Japan

took out Foochow this turn and repaired its infrastructure. the Chinese are playing very close to the vest in this one with a major build up east of their capital.

built supply and researched ASW and fighter air to air

It appears as if the naval war is very important and decisive in this game.

sorry fo rhte late reply. we had 2 updates since this aar got started and are ow on version 2.1

yes, the germans need to keep some pressure on the allies in the atlantic and whittle on their transports so they are not nearly as mobile in invasions and such (it takes transports to move troops and also supply and u need a "chain" from start to destination so it takes alot of transports). the u-boats are fairly cost effective to produce as well.
