Ouch!! That looks very, very, VERY nasty. The amount of Kates and Vals involved looks like all of his CVs were present.

Where on earth was your naval recon?

Now the question is does he have enough fuel, avgas, and AA ammo to stick around? Is there a Replenishment TF around? Do I have a Carrier TF in the area?

This loss of transports will surely mess up Kid's attempts to reinforce PM[X(]

Obviously Frag hasn't played much as Allies.....EVERY transport is precious to the Allies, especially at the beginning of the game. I found myself scouring the four corners of the Pacific for merchant shipping to try to beef up my fledgling pipeline to the US.

so there! PFFFFFFFFFFTHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

EJ TOJO is pleased to announce the success of operation "Pearl Harbor part DU"

I was hoping to catch a bunch of fattened merchants (well fat in girth if not in cargo), particularily after being taunted by Billy the KID on how he was stealing my resource and oil point out from under my nose.

I was worried i might end up hitting an empty base so choosing the right one was difficult. Sidney was an option, particularily as warships often use it as a haven. A couple Oz CA's would have been nice but the primary target was indeed merchant shipping. Merchant shipping is what makes the world go 'round after all.
As with real life....our expectations on the raid were well exceeded.....my eyes must have googled as much as Kid's did when i saw the damage list........whoo.....Brisbane was doing some busy trading indeed!

As mentioned....if there was one thing i pulled from my playtests as Allied....merchants are indeed gold, especially in the beginning of the game and as Allied, i too had tended to be a bit on the "complacent" side in terms of allowing shipping to congregate at Oz ports.....a juicy target if ever there was one. Even though sinkings in ports are very difficult to achieve (esp if the ships are Allied because....fair or not.....merchants get the Allied DC bonus), its still worth it because all that damage will choke up Allied repair yards and those babies wont be doing much of anything for some time to come.

If I have it correctly, he is going to have to scuttle most of those merchants to keep repair slots open for his warships.

that is actually a posibility and one I (in Kid's place) would seriously consider. Sometimes it is more worthwhile to scuttle vs try to repair, move etc. There is also a slight VP cost savings as well, not to mention the er.....psychological satisfaction of saying you sank your own ship vs the enemy doing it [;)]

Yep, they were parked there until I figured out what to do with them. Most of them had escaped from the PI.

My plan is to ship then off to small repair yards and let them sit there. So what if it takes a year to repair them all, I have 4 years.[:D]

I only scuttle when there is no chance of getting them to a safe port.

Bah, thats because you can't plan your way out of a wet paper bag. You have tons of shipping. You need nothing out of the SRA. [:'(]
