You ever go to that little Greek restaurant downtown? EXCELLENT food! What about the resort up on the hill?
Hey Redleg!
Looks like we just missed overlapping . . . I left BK in December, 1984. Not only do I remember the Greek place, I practically lived there! (Theoretically, that's possible, since it was a Gasthaus). Not only great food, but really cheap. I ate there 3-4 times week. I don't remember visiting the resort -- too pricy / classy for me, I guess. Did you live on post, or in town?
I dated one of the young ladies who worked at the Casino downtown. She'd get off work at 1:30 AM. We'd go to one or more of the private clubs in town and dance / party 'till 5. Then I'd drop her off, go home, shower, change and be on base to lead P.T. at 0600. O, to be young and resilient again!

U.S. Navy 90-93---USS Charleston LKA-113 then forward deployed to Italy for one year with USS Orion AS-18, which at the time was the oldest ship in the navy and did service during WWII as she was commissioned in 1943.

Good times! Great food! I dated a gal from Hammelburg while there but I also ate at that Greek restaurant at least 3-4 times a week! We probably were there at the same time at some point! LOL I lived on the economy. Little apartment house on the way about a km from post on the way towards that resort on the hill. Local delivery of my beer to the doorstep as well!
Sure miss the real beer. One thing I don't miss is being able to quench the munchies in the wee hours of the mornings....no 7 Elevens! LOL

U.S.M.C.
Infantry then transferred to Military Police working security at the Naval Command Center in the Pentagon 1980-1984. Doing security sweeps at night required a detailed search of the offices for security violations. I can tell you going through the drawers of the Admirals and Generals was let's say an enlightening experience.
Highlight of my career was meeting everyone in top government from the President (Regan) on down if they were affiliated with the military somehow, they attended the 9:15 briefs my detail handled security for at the command center. Hey now, relax, I was only 19-22 years old then, I wasn't so cynical about our countries leaders in those days. [;)]

U.S. Army 88-96 11B Infantry till 91 then reclassed SatCom. I didn't make it to the Storm so I figured my career in the Infantry was over.

How's PJ's troops coming along? Think they'll end the 39 game losing streak to those hated Irish? Payback is coming though, in Falcon stadium this October....

We've been close with those guys so many times lately that I think the streak will end soon. As for AF, I think its our turn to be dominant for awhile. 2 miserable decades was long enough.

1962-1965 U.S. Army artillery surveyor with 82nd Abn Div.
1970-1978 U.S. Army UH-1 helicopter crewchief. Most notable assignments were 1971-1972 with the 101st Abn Div in RVN and 1974-1976 with the 4th Cavelry in Scofield Barracks Hawaii. I didn't like the cavalry but the parades were impressive because this unit was active before the American Civil War and the number of battle streamers on the unit flag was huge, there must have been over 100 of them.
