How do you do a transfer to the capital ships? <may be broken>

My character is a Lt. Commander and I've had messages saying I can transfer to Cap ships but when I go to the screen that has the "transfer" button, it's always greyed out. I highlight all fleet units in the drop downs and still not functioning.

Is the game to be just a piloting fighters game only or am I missing something basic?

It's definitely not broken - I use this feature all the time. Are you playing the demo or the 4.0.0 release? The procedure is slightly different for each.

Assuming you are playing the demo, you must select the 60th Destroyer Squadron "Gerrond". In the demo, I don't think you can select any of the individual ships in the squadron, you must select the squadron group itself. You will automatically be placed in command of the lead ship at the time you transfer.

Playing 4.0, still isnt working for me...

In 4.0 you can click on an individual ship and transfer specifically to that. You can't transfer to all ships, just those that are allowed by the campaign (combat ships). Obviously you can't transfer to enemy ships either. [:D]

What happens when you, say, click on DD-730 Gerrond. Does the transfer button not light up, or does a message box saying your transfer is denied appear?
