How do I get Invasion Support TFs to stay on station?

So I'm playing the tutorial as the US. Trying to invade Saipan, but after the first combat turn, my bombardment and CV task forces immediately return to base. How do I get these to remain on-station for the duration of the invasion?

Under the Picture of the TF in the upper center of the screen you will see yellow text.
One will say 'retirement allowed' click it until it says 'patrol/do not retire. Your ships will the stay on station until out of ammo or fuel or heavily damaged.
