Carrier Air operations in Scenario #10

Post by Svar »

Hopefully this wont be a fatal error but after 1/11/45 the Essex class carrier air groups stopped flying any missions. The leading fighter group at that time was VF-20 with 97 kills flying off USS Lexington. Luckily the CVL groups continued to fly. In 1/11/45 the 4 CVL fighter groups flying day missions had a total of 19 kills, by 1/22/45 the leading goup, VF-22 had 205 kills and the total for all CVL groups was 457. This hasn't caused a problem as no allied ship has been hit by air attack but any further invasions will need air cover. The only thing that I did that could have triggered this bug, if that was what it is, was to refuel from the just captured base at Lingayen. Refueling from a base reloads carrier ordnance and resets the sortie counter. The base was probably damaged 100% at the time. Two of the original four Air Combat TFs are almost back at Ulithi which is their home port so when I get them there I will refuel/rearm and send them back into action to see if that solves the problem. There is a new Air Combat TF at Pearl and another one about to be formed that will be sent west also.

Another much lessor problem that actually pointed out the nonflying one is the top pilot list doesn't accurately track pilots and kills. Even on 1/11/45 some units didn't have all the pilots listed and the VFB groups are almost not listed at all. Up to 1/11/45 the VFB groups were flying normally and scoring kills but after 1/11/45 since they weren't flying nothing was being recorded. By 1/22/45 VF-22 and VF-28 had a total of 319 kills distributed among 34 different pilots but the list only had 3 pilots listed. VF-29 and VF-45 have faired a little better, 20 of their 29 scoring pilots are listed.

I have save games from 1/5/45 until 1/19/45 consecutively if the people who fix bugs are interested. In the mean time I will continue to play and try to fix the nonflying problem.

Thanks, how do you fix it? I didn't add any groups but these carriers have 105 A/C with a capacity of 90. They started the game with 102.

Carriers can still fly at 115% capacity, at 116% everything is grounded and you have to unload aircraft to get back to 115% or lower

Wasn't it 110% in UV? Are you sure its 115%?
