aircraft control bug?

Post by Germ29 »

Hello all. I noticed my CV's docked in Pearl and any ship with float planes onboard have there A/C listed as computer controlled (SW). Does this mean that they belong to the SW command? will they function normally or do i need to place them under human control? South West pacific is currently under human control. I have not checked ships in other ports. sorry if this has been brought up already.

Computer control zones have nothing at all to do with Command HQ's. They control via map areas, not who reports to who.

Hello Mr. Frag
I just checked a pby sqn in San Francisco and it was on computer contro (SW). I changed it and the next turn it went back to the same thing. Do you know why? Its assigned to central pacific which is human controlled as well as the west coast. Just a little odd. I love the game.

I also have had some air units go on computer-control "on their own". I am playing a pbem game with NO computer control zones. I can't add much more, as I have no idea what is causing this. We've experienced the resetting of game options also, maybe related to that.

I'm seeing same thing. Air groups on US CVs in 42a Scenario (All I've played much) start game as Computer (SW) and seem to like to set themselves back when docked in port. Will not stay on human control when docked in port. Is this a bug??

If the zone is on computer control, everything in it is under computer control. It could not care less what command they report to. Does that help your understanding? I'm trying to follow what you guys are doing, but can't figure it out. Nothing will *ever* go to computer control unless you told it to by either the Zone of Control panel or the Auto-Convoy panel.

OK Frag.

Let me clarify.

With Zones under human control (South Pacific, Cenral Pacific, US, SW Pacific) US CVs start with aircraft under Computer Control (always) and go back to that when I dock taskforces (sometimes).

The aircraft around Nomoa 2 marine fighters and a catalina do not set themselves to computer control....they move by themselves even though they report themselves to be under human control....different problem

I understand that is what should happen. I have never made any changes on the Zone of Control panel or the Auto-Convoy panel though. My pbem opponent has said that he has made no changes to these panels either. I have had air units switching to computer control though. Not a lot of units, about a dozen or so, within the first week of the campaign game, and not all on the same turn. All of the CV air units that made emergency landings when their carrier was sunk did switch to computer control.

Mr. Frag, thank you for all your support on this forum.

Ok, so you two are saying that you never touched Computer Control in a PBEM and it kicked it on for various units?

Did you use Computer Control in other games you were playing? Trying to see if it is a bleed through problem or completely unrelated to the existing PBEM issue caused by not existing the game.

Hello...

How do you know they switched to computer control?

Thanks...

Mr. Frag,
Yes, I am saying that I never touched Computer Control in pbem and it kicked on for various units. I had one game in progress versus the computer, and I never touched Computer Control in that game either.

Mike,
The specific air unit no longer said "Human" in the lower left (Air Unit Information Screen), and it was given orders that I did not give.

My game was patched mid-game.

I agree with APBAROG. Same observation except I have not patched and I saw this in games against AI. Air unit in human controled zone starts on CVs (ALL) under computer control (SW), I swithched to human and later when docked I noticed they were back in computer control.

I also have noticed problems in 42a with unauthorized movement of humman controlled forces by the computer!
