Missile Lock

Post by whammo11224 »

My missiles are flying all over the place, but they are not hitting the targets even though I have "lock".

What gives, are the enemy AI using some sort of jamming?

Thanks

All fighters have decoys they can drop to elude missiles. Plus, missiles have a fairly large turning radius so they're not impossible to evade.

I should have mentioned that I'm in a frigate.

Thanks

Makes no difference, you just have more missiles :)

If you are close enough you should be able to see the enemy fighters dropping decoys (bright blue spheres) and turning to avoid the missiles.

Most of the time they will succeed. If they pose a threat to you, keep shooting at them and try to hit them with a plasma burst from main cannons.

I should have also mentioned that I'm targeting other Capital Ships. Sometimes the missiles will pass right through the target.

The Mk7 missiles on frigates and some cruisers are anti-fighter/anti-drone weapons. They can't lock onto capital ships.

You know I think that changed in Retail. Try the mission "Send Lawyers, Guns, and Money."

It didn't change. The pirate ship in that mission is a corvette-class, and it is meeting up with a Jackal landing craft. Both of those are small enough to be engaged with Mk7s.

I played that, but I don't remember any capital ships in it. Just a bunch of fighters and a corvette.

edit: 15 seconds too late.

Bah! I may be right only occasionally, but at least i'm fast. [;)]

Anyways-
Mk 7 missiles are not particularly accurate. The great virtue is in their, hmm, umm... merciless fire rate and capacious magazines. I think that's right. [;)]
