Why do Japanese planes cost more than Allied planes?

Post by Damien Thorn »

An allied plane costs heavy industry of 18 x # of engines. Japanese planes cost the same thing but also cost an additional 18 per engine and then 1 more for each engine ( to attach them, I guess). This comes from pp 179-180 of the manual. If I could cut and paste from the manual I would put the whole thing here.

It seems to me that the formula for Japanese planes should be 9 x # of engines + 9 points to produce each engine + 0 for attaching them. This would make them cost the same as Allied planes (which would still be too much in my opinion).

I wonder if this is intended or if it was something that just slipped through. If I have this wrong, somebody please enlighten me.

After a quick click-through of the Japanese industry, they appear to have way the hell more to deal with this, so it's not really a problem, IMO.[:)]

maybe because the japanese were less industralizied and had not the perfect economy the us of a started to have very quickly ?

i think, if you need 1 ton of ore to produce a bar of iron in the us of a and 2 ton of ore for the japanese, it seems smart for me that the japanese need more resources to produce things... but i am not deep enough in the game to make a comment about the game balance of this... ask me in 2 years [:D]

The problem with that is the poor IJN player may be paying twice for a poor economy.... Once by having fewer industrial centers and then again by more expensive aircraft. Unless that was calculated into the design of the game and the costs reflect what could be produced historically the values may need to be looked into.

Inventing stuff just confuses people. [:'(]

The Allied side by virture of the fact that they enjoyed virtually unlimited production doesn't pay for anything.

There is no *Japan pays more* stuff, that is just silly [:D]

Besides, the Japanese have something like 8000+ heavy industry in Japan itself that I was able to total in just five minutes before I left for work. They have more than enough to handle both airframe and engines + other stuff with judicious expansion.

Why do you pay more for a Land Cruiser than for a Navigator?

Oops, I forgot they started to make better things than us AFTER the war.[;)]
