Overland Movement of Resources

Post by Xargun »

I cannot find it in the book, but have seen it mentioned on here that resources (oil, etc...) will move between bases separated by water automatically. At what distance ? Do the bases have to be adjacent - side by side ? Or can there by 1 hex of water between them ? Does it have to shallow water ?

Distance of 1 hex and the ports at both ends must be built up.

Do we know aT what rate bases will transfer items overland ? And I'm assuming rail is better than roads, better than trails, better than nothing...

By items I mean Oil, Resources, Fuel and Supplies.

I have a question about overland movement of supplies/resources. Can I interdict transport routes by bombing them, to slow down movement of stuff or destroy it, cutting off or depleting land units? I have captured Akyab as allies in Sept 42, and have 2 divs in a standoff with 4 Jap ones. Can I strangle their supply line from Rangoon by bombing an empty hex with a road running through, and reduce the transfer of supplies? They must be hurting already, and it might tip the balance.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Cut the road with a land unit. No more supply.

In china i believe simply sitting on a road hex wont cut supply because there are a myriad of paths available. (just to clarify) [:)]

It can cut the supply route as if it has to go through mountains or jungle it MUST be a lot shorter. I believe rail is 2 points and jungle is 50. So if a unit is 2 or more hexes away from a base via jungle it will not recieve any supplies until it is closer... and we all know how fast units move via jungle.

Is there any value in bombing an empty hex on a key supply route?

Pushing the supply off road dramatically increases the loss rate so even if some gets through, you are forcing a lot of waste.
