Is former President Bush in the Game?

Post by mavraam »

Just curios.
Lt. George Bush's Distinguished Flying Cross Citation

The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the

DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS
TO
LIEUTENANT, JUNIOR GRADE, GEORGE HERBERT WALKER BUSH
UNITED STATES NAVAL RESERVE

for service as set forth in the following

CITATION: "For heroism and extraordinary achievement in aerial flight as Pilot of a Torpedo Plane in Torpedo Squadron FIFTY ONE, attached to the U.S.S. San Jacinto, in action against enemy Japanese forces in the vicinity of the Bonin Islands, on September 2, 1944. Leading one section of a four-plane division in a strike against a radio station, Lieutenant, Junior Grade, Bush pressed home an attack in the face of intense antiaircraft fire. Although his plane was hit and set afire at the beginning of his dive, he continued his plunge toward the target and succeeded in scoring damaging bomb hits before bailing out of the craft. His courage and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Reserve."

For the President,

Secretary of the Navy

Copy to: Pers 01
Public Relations, Navy Dept.
rough draft: 13 Sept 1946
weil
Ref.: Com2ndCarTasForPac Ser.: 0596 of Mis 21U

I heard somewhere he flew 25 combat missions and was shot down and rescued several times. NM, I guess it was 58 combat missions. (EDIT)

No he is not in at this time. This topic was brought up before. I think Matrix said it would be possible to add him into the air force commanders.

I don't think he was a commander, just a pilot.

In general, are pilot names historical or did they just make a list random nationally correct names?

How about squadron leaders?

How about ship commanders?

Just wondering. I can certainly understand if it was too much effort to get down to that level of detail!

If it is like UV...the pilots and vessel commanders were not historical...in fact there were a number of names that were suspiciously like the Matrix folks [;)]

For eg...the commander of PT109 is not you know who.

As for Bush....wasn't he AWOL? [;)]

here's a philosophical question....

If someone puts "W" into the database, and his TBF gets shotdown.....would there still have been a recount?

I'm not biting on that one! Don't want to be chased back to Doggie's AOW forum!

Although I must admit, he is AWOL from the game!

You guys do know that it was the first Bush that was in WW2, not his son.

The current Bush was born in 1946. He would have been an awefully young pilot!

Strange. I could have swore I saw a screenshot with the correct name for PT-109. I did notice though that it has been missing from the OOB. Haven't really looked for it though.

As I understand it, Lt j.g. Kennedy is the commander of PT-109 in the game, but only after he actually took command in the middle of the war. At least, I've seen screenshots of his name on the boat. The boat begins the game (as it began the war) under someone else's command.
