Ship ammo

Post by goodwood »

Shouldn't ship ammo reduce after a naval bombardment. I have just watched a bombardment over 2 turns and the 8 inch shells from my CAs have reduced in number. started with 6 and still have six. It appears the secondary guns have depleted ammo as well. Yes the combat screen shown Jap casaulties

Edit: just completed another turn CA and DD using 5" guns but CA not using 8" guns a bit odd! any ideas.

Hmm, you're saying you see no reduction in ammo at all? Ammo may have been reduced; that may be why you're no longer firing your eight-inch guns. But yeah, you should see some evidence of this in your ammo numbers. Hmm.

Also, check your ships' endurance and fuel. If they're dashing in and out of the enemy port, they'll be using up fuel like crazy.

In the Marianas AAR thread, someone's suggested that ships won't deplete all their ammo in bombardment and will save some for self defense:

Another hint. Once your BB's and CA's once their ammo reaches a certain level (for BB's its if there main guns reach 3 ammo...not sure about the CA's) they will refuse to bombard any longer....I think that this is built into the game to ensure that if they run into another surface fleet that they will have something to fight with. So once ammo reachs 3 break them off and send them back to refuel and rearm and then back up to bombard somemore.

Perhaps this is what you're seeing. I've confirmed that for BB main guns it's indeed 3, but I at least see them dropping in ammo from 9 to 3. It's odd that you don't appear to be expending any.
