CTRL-TAB Graphics Problems

Post by Theng »

When I change applications with ALT-TABS and come back to WitP the whole graphics screen is garbage. Only when I am able to click by chance on a exit button or something like it the screen refreshes. Is there a way to protect the graphics memory or something like that? This is about the only app that does this...

Thanks

PS: Patient: Doctor, it hurts when I do this! What should I do? Doctor: Then don't do it!

Ditto that here. It seems that the background images get corrupted somehow and don't repaint correctly all the time. I'm using a GE Force II 64 with the latest drivers.

Do not Alt-tab with any lists open or when the turn is processing.

Should you not listen, the game will fix itself at midnight during turn execution.

Alt-Tab is not supported, but works fine as long as you follow the above.

And yet they provide a 220 page manual and 66 page tutorial but alt-tab is not supported? [:D] How are we suppose to win the war and read about the finer points of resource control and shipping on page 190? [8D]

Care to name any games that *support* alt-tab which takes away control from the game while it is running? Think you are in for a rough time finding any.

You have two options ... close lists first or run windowed

Closing the lists works for me. I didn't realise that was what was doing it [:)]

I was kidding Mr. Frag, this alt-tab does not bother me at all. Just something I noticed when I have to check the manual every two minutes. [:D]

I did this during a naval surface attack. it is still messed up...everything else is ok but whenever i have a surface attack now it is messed up...you can see but it has lines....this has happened for 2 turns at least....i have shut down the game (well last night). hopfully this fixes it.

The turn is running ... don't ALT-TAB when it is running or you will get glitches.

NOTE this is unsupported and may not work on all video cards. Use at your own risk. Use the "-w" parameter for the executable to run in the windowed mode. It's unsupported so can't tell you how. If it doesn't work remove the parameter and run full screen.

BUT keep this in mind. Running windowed is the same as alt tabbing out if you do it during turn execution if you switch to another program. The graphics will be messed up until it corrects itself when you click back to WITP. At least on my machine it is. So while the turn is running smoke'em if you got'em.
